Delta.Skies
just want to get the gist of a captain, librarian or chaplain with jumpacks. The advantages and tactics with loadouts you would do. I know for the fly but I've never really seen it utilized in battle reports or strategized in 8th. Thinking bout magnetizing on a captain and librarian. Inquisitor Red
Keep in mind my tactics for this have been using Index DW so who knows what will change once the dex drops. Watch Captain w Jump Pack - I kit mine with a Thunder Hammer/Storm shield. I use him as a CC beat stick, he's got 4 swings at 3+ to hit (re-rolling 1s) with his hammer. So odds are he's gonna smash some face in. In small games I'll run him as a suicide unit, deep striking solo and causing havoc. In larger games I'll use him as an overcharging escort for Plasma Interceptors, and or Plasma Pistol Vanguard Vets. Librarian w Jump Pack - Never used before. Tactically the only reason I'd run him would be to cast Veil of time on a Deep Striking CC unit in order to get the charge off. Besides that I guess not bad if you need smite/anti psyker presence somewhere on the battlefield. Chaplain w Jump Pack - Index DW wouldn't allow us to equip a jump pack on the Chaplain. Codex DW changes that and I'm pumped for it. He'll be great with a CC oriented Deep Striking unit. Specifically anything with a negative to hit CC weapon (Thunder Hammer, Pfist, etc). I was thinking combi plasma with power axe. But because I haven't played yet this was all in theory. But I knew he was gonna have to be magnetized. What invulnerable save does he get again? Inquisitor Red
Capt comes with a 4++. I just throw on a Shield so he can tank a little better when I run him solo in small games. He's shooting on a 2+ re-rolling 1s so anything he shoots with will most likely hit. Captain Boyle
I'm thinking Thunderhammer and Stormbolter. Price of a Thunderhammer seems worth it over a Powerfist, only other considerable melee weapon would be a xenophase blade for targets with a pesky invuln save. Storm bolter with SIA seems worth it to fire off at a fleshy troops unit that needs finishing off, or to soften up a target before the charge.
