I just did the survey. The question about heavy weapon squads and they don't include Heavy Flamer in the option emphasizes the lack of the effectiveness.

Yes, i too find it lacking on some points, but otherwise it's actually quite decent. I doubt it will achieve something, but the more people participate, the more weight it has, so who knows?

Done!!

Props to whomever put it together.

This was made by ProdigalSonz over at r/ThousandSons

You guys rock! Already over 100 responses in 12 hours. Looks like it's taking folks just under 10 minutes to complete but already there are some cool things showing up.

I think it's pretty clear, folks want the 5-man SRC squads.

There's some really obvious stuff too, like absolutely no one uses Landraiders, Vindicators, etc - the stuff thats pretty easy to figure out from discussions here.

I'll have some work I need to do on the open-text questions to clean it up and organize it a bit but I think this is going to really help.

Worse case, GW ignores it but we get some cool data to reflect on as a community.

I did the survey but felt several of the questions forced me to pollute their data. Several of the questions regarding heavy support units really should have been optional, but the survey wouldn't let me not answer them even though my collection includes no heavy support of any type.

I'd rather have mini-Perils for mini-Smites rather than 5-man SRCs. I like SRCs, but the Rubric squads would play much more like Rubric squads should if the reins were loosened on their sorcerous powers, rather than just handing them extra heavy weaponry. I'm fine with MSU SRC Rubrics being a reward for choosing to play CSM Rubrics as Elites and missing out on Change spells.

What do you mean by mini-perils?

Essentially any reduced form of Perils that doesn't cause the entire unit to lose 2D3 Rubricae like it does now. Perhaps just assign one mortal wound to the Sorcerer instead if mini-Smite causes a Peril, without the exploding psyker damage, so it isn't a complete and utter catastrophe if one spell perils. I've lost over 150 points of models plus several wounds on an Exalted Sorcerer to one Aspiring Sorcerer Perils in a 1000 point game and it hurts *a lot*.

Took the survey, really good idea btw. A few question/answer choices didn't really apply to me but found it really well done. Defiler, look too much as something coming from a bad B-movie from the 80' and Dyno bots...well just seem odd and might have appear in the same movie along with the Defiler.

If in the near future we have access to all the Forgeworld model for the thousand sons, i'll the pay the round.

Since you brought that up; GW themselves have said that they are very aware of the want for an Osirion and that the FW team is aware..... though they didn't say they are "working on it"

With the recent free release of the Telemon dread and the confirmed coming of full lists for Sisters and Custodes translating all FW stuff into 40k........... I fully expect that the Osirion will get rules.... *eventually*

Due to the current "arm deal" at FW I ordered an Osirion, decent little savings and I am eager to get him, build him, and enjoy him.  I just hope eventually we get our beloved Sorcerer-Dread.  I even have 2 other contemptors already in the list that will be his big dusty brothers to go along with him. heh.

Except GW said they were going to do rules for the 30k Custodes stuff to bring turn into 40k, where as they suggested to use a hellforged contemptor with a chainclaw for the Osiron.

No why they would want till keep models like the beautiful Osiron in a Niche portion of the game with only one army able to use it in that portion and call it fine, dandy and profitable is beyond me but so far that is how they are going.

Well the FW team is well aware, if they want easy money they better skip to.

I anxiously completed the survey.

I’m not one to spread negativity, but this Codex for me reeks of lost opportunities. For me it is ranked second only to Deathwatch in the sense of a wonderful background that lost its way once it hit the printing press for rules.

While I do think that *overall* the codex is solid, and am relatively happy with it.... I agree there were definitely some missed opportunities.  As well as some head-scratching omissions.

A bit of an update:

Update 5/14: We're up to 230 responses so far! Thanks so much for everyone who's taken time to fill it out.

I noticed the response rate is starting to slow down a little so, I plan to leave the survey up for at least this week. This coming weekend I will be closing it and compiling the results and sending them off to GW.

I'll have the results posted here once they are ready.

Some Quick Stats

  • 26% of the suggestions are focused on Point Reductions
    • 23% of those are about reducing the cost of Rubric Marines
  • Almost 10% of the suggestions favor giving Rubric Marines 5-man SRC Squads
    • In fact, 95% of voters said they think this should be the rule
  • Another 10% are focused on just getting Rubric Marines viable, not just point reductions

Which is interesting because 33% of the responses said they were hoping for Cheaper Rubrics in the Codex.

The top 5 units suffering from a "I won't ever take it 'itus" are:

  1. Land Raiders
  2. Vindicators
  3. Chaos Spawns
  4. Defliers
  5. Sorcerers

Bit of a surprise to me that more people would be willing to take Forgefiends before a Sorcerer.

85% of you think the Codex has become "Codex: Tzaangors"

The top 5 "overpriced" units are:

  1. Rubric Marines
  2. Land Raider
  3. Terminators
  4. Exalted Sorcerers
  5. Forgefeinds

Of the 80% of responses that said we should get a Psychic Dreadnought, it's pretty 50/50 on if that should come from GW or just port over the FW unit.

The community also pretty split on the idea of Tzaangor Shields.

Anyways, getting excited to have the results wrapped up.
