Telemon Heavy Dreadnought 40k BETA Rules

Recommended Posts

It's coming in at 405 with fists. It's a lot but deepstriking it onto a vexilla in your opponents lines will be lulz

Actually it will be 470 for 2 fists. But ther is no point (unless you want those nasty 4D6 autohits for overwatch) as it doesn't have -1 attack when you take only one fist. So it will be 220 base + 120 for 1 fist (or 250 for 2 lol) + 60 or 45 for a ranged options = 400 or 385. Leviathan dread costs 309 with 2*storm cannons (cheapest option) + 80 for a droppod for him. Telemon can be teleported in for 1 cp. It can be a huge distraction somewhere on the table.

At first glance it looks OK. For the same cost as the Land Raider you get 20 shots if you don't move, which at BS2+ rerolling ones (because a Shield Captain should be nearby) that's a lot of dakka. It's just an expensive model in an already expensive army but at least it doesn't become a paperweight if an enemy touches it like the LR. I won't rush out and by it because of these rules, but if it got better later on...

Now you can make a 1350+pt Spearhead with the Telemon and two LRs :teehee:

The CC/flamer version seems redonculously overpriced at 405.

But double accelerators for 310 doesn't look to bad. 15 wounds, 2+/4++ and 12 str 8 -3 d3 shots is something Custodes are looking for.

Fists are 65 for a pair, 220+120+65 for a double fist version.

Fists come with a Twin plasma ejector each. Twin plasma ejector costs 60 point for one.

A 2+4++6+++ with 15 wounds at t8? Pretty decent. Ive had a lot of success with my leviathan and this seems good along the same lines. Id take twin accelerators for 310, because jesus those melee options really jack up the price. The las storm is a bit meh compared to the cheaper accelerator.

Might be the heavy support option weve been looking for tbh.

Yeah the Fists need to come down in price, or more specifically, the ejectors attached to the Fists need to come down in price. They’re not worth 60 points each.

Stats wise though I’m really happy with this one, especially compared to their other beta rules.

The fist is literally a 75 point plasma injector, since the 2nd melee weapon does not add in an attack. There truly is no point to it. The fists are currently pointless, WAY too expensive.

I like the Culverin, it's relatively long range will make it very scary. The las-storm doesn't seem very 'las' to me. It's more a weird cross between a lascannon and a storm cannon. It's OK I guess, but the Leviathan just does that bit better with higher AP and fixed damage for less points.

Rest of the stats seems spot on :)

Less shots though. Also, it's a lot less tough than a Telemon, in both actual toughness and both saves. Sure, the tank may be more manoeuvrable, but in raw staying power, the Telemon is far superior for about the same points value. It's actually slightly cheaper, as the Callidus also has a bolt cannon for 25 points. It's not a bad weapon though, but not sure if it weighs up to another possible 4 shouts from the culverins. I'd say it doesn't.
So does anyone think a firebase of a shield captain, a shooty telemon and a Caladius will be viable? Maybe leave your magnifica with them once your bikes leave? It'll at least give you some backfield objective grabbers with some anti-tank firepower so you can focus on killing hordes with your hurricane Bolter bikes.
