Adeptus Titanicus - what we'd like to see (one day?)

Recommended Posts

Greetings all.

I am getting the Adeptus Titanicus fever somewhat and think this is a great place to discuss what we want out of the game. Wishlisting future releases is fine with this thread.

On a personal level I'd like to see variant titans to expand upon. Psi titans is mentioned alot but there must be other variants eh!

For the short term, we can expect a bunch of Warlord and Reaver-sized variant Titans, like the Carnivore and Nightgaunt. We're unlikely to see Emperor class very soon, as the response has been that they could do an Imperator, or they could do 3-4 Warlord-sized variants.

If it ever gets to a full Epic-type game, I'm really looking forward to Mechanicum/Mechanicus in that scale! Legions of robots and Ordinatus would be frickin' cool.

And further forward, all those absolutely insane Chaos siege-engine type things, like the Cauldron of Blood and Silver Towers of Tzeentch. I love that stuff, and it would be great to see modern renditions given a bit more thought.

I'd like to be able to buy a few epic units, not necessarily to build an army but just for modelling around the bases of the titans to show their scale. In time full epic would be welcome though.

I'm looking forward to the buildings as much as anything as I can also use them with Dropzone and the common use helps me justify the cost.

Okay... some form of coverage for Legions Xestiobiax. Which is tricky considering that there are only around 30-40 of them unaccounted for... in groups of 12... which are effectively stranded on whatever planet they're guarding.

Still, if they were to show up I'd like something representing them always being in home territory and their Black Iron Cores giving them greater control over their Titans in exchange for risky psychic phenomena and a representation of their resource strapped logistics.

Oh, and more lore for everything.

On a side note, events Titanicus games could be a good basis for 30k games based around defending fallen Titans, rescuing command crew, sabotaging repair components etc.

Campaign books. First of all I hope the rulebook is expansive and includes lots of stuff on the setting, fluff about the various Titans and legios and narrative.

I really hope that Beta Garmon campaign book/ black book comes out this year.

Interesting stuff. Cool how you come up with different stuff that is great.

If I'm honest I'd love to see other races get a look in for this game. Gargants and Eldar Titans are the obvious expansions of course since they existed both in 30K and current 40K.

But damn ultimately I do want full epic! It'll require a new ruleset using these models of course since they'll be too intricate most likely for large armies.

But the real question is; if full epic was released, when should it be set?

Whilst the other races inclusions would obviously want 40K since Necrons, Tau and Tyranids wouldn't exist in 30K, there is a problem in that formations of Space Marines work best as one sort of unit and not the Battle Companies we expect.

Perhaps Marines would be included as a Crusade force so we can have Tactical Companies, Assault Companies etc.

I would love to see HH epic, including a cross over into great crusade so they can do orks, eldar and a load of new races.

But realistically a 40k epic would sell better, they could make that the main epic range in plastic and possibly support a 30k version with some resin releases.

If they go 40k it should be in the current timeline, 40k sometimes feels a bit small for the scale of battles i would like to fight with a combined force of old marines, primarus and Custodes

You've got something there...

If this is a new game GW can set it when they like.

Imagine an epic game set in the height of the Great Crusade. Space Marines legions, Imperial Army, Orks and Eldar as we expect, but also new races. GW COULD do just about anything they wanted with new races and it wouldn't hurt the setting since they could just say they're all dead if they have to.

Ambitious though. It's likely just going to be 40K.

I must admit I don’t know much about the Titan Legions so I had a read up on the 5 listed loyalist ones. Bit sad there’s no Mars based a legion in there as I would have like them to be part of the same narative as my Mars Skitarii and House Taranis Knights. But a bit of diversity never hurt anyone.

Ignatum, the Fire Wasps, are what you probably want.

With it being set in the Heresy period, there is a far, far greater variety in Titan legions, which is what this is all about ( Titans).

...what variety? :huh.:

If you open any of FW Horus Heresy books, there is literally zero variety in titan legions in 30K. Yes, yes, some have quirks, some weapon preferences, some have odd bit of technology making them slightly different, but by and large, literally every single 30K titan is mass produced thing that, sans paint, could belong to literally any legio and you wouldn't be able to guess which one it was if you saw it in monochrome. Just literally a single 40K titan legion shows more deviance from the norm than all of 30K ones combined, just like legionary tactical squad from SW, UM, WS and RG shows tiny fraction of variance found in 40K chapter squads of these, and that is looking at chapters that changed the least, never mind their oddball successors...

Forge World: "We are going to make variant weapons, rules, classes and more down the line -  but the initial game will just be these basic models"

Irbis: "There is literally no difference between any of the Titan Legions in the Horus Heresy"

There is a disconnect here somewhere.

Can someone explain to me why this game isn’t already in my hands while I make pew pew noises?!?! JUST TAKE MY MONEY ALREADY

Ahem.

I’m a big proponent of Legio Fureans...but gosh darn it that warp runners scheme is the bees knees. Guess I’m gonna have to get two legions then.

Back in the "Titan Legion" days it was said that they had other plans besides the Imperator and Warmonger class of Super titans. I believe one that was planned, but never put into a model release form was going to be some kind of land aircraft carrier.

I'm pretty happy with the release myself, the Warlord is only marginally bigger than the forumware warlord and will fit pretty well into the current Epic scene of more realistic size Titans and Knights and 30k heresy tanks.

Now just bring on the giant buggos of the Tyranid titans and I'll be super happy

I think that's the Apocalypse class. We may see them yet, as Legio Mortis's fluff entry in Betrayal says they're rumored to have "at least one."

edit: just checked, and it also mentions a Nemesis class, so that could be it too. Either way, we have Imperators, Warmongers, and then maybe Nemesis and above them all the Apocalypse class.

But the real question is; if full epic was released, when should it be set?

Absolutely the Dark Imperium. It's a chance to bring in factions that missed the Epic boat, or could really use a facelift from what they did have in Epic. Giant Tau battlesuits just trying to keep up, humongous Necron constructs as they continue to awaken, more and more gigantic and terrifying Tyranid bioforms, Ork Gargants that keep getting more outlandish, etc.

It's also a chance to do crazy/big things with Primaris. I'm not a huge fan of them, but if we're going to see new stuff, why not new BIG stuff? Let's see what they've really got to tackle the whole universe breaking apart.

I also look forward to someone setting these new titans near the olde epic scale infantry and vehicles as I get the feeling these may also ‘fit’ That scale better than the old titans did- kind of like marines vs primaris next to a guardsman

I remember seeing a Titan with a landing pad for its own spotter ‘plane in White Dwarf many years ago: was that the Apocalypse class?

It’s hard to imagine what the size of an Imperator Titan would be from the fluff. From some descriptions (such as in Titanicus), one could envisage the model in 8 mm scale being of a similar size to the 28 mm scale Warlord.
