I think in one of our prior editions we could fire up to 2 guns out of a rhino

 

After facing open topped dark eldar blasters I am jealous and want better transports

 

Aye 5th (and probably before that too) you used to be able to drive by melta everything. Was excellent :)

7e had rhinos with 2 fire points, so a full squad could shoot both their special weapons without leaving the vehicle. Would be nice to see them bring that back, along with being able to have HQ auras at least affect the vehicle the HQ is embarked upon. Granted, it was fun for the bit when Ulrik's aura was measured from the hull of a land raider:)

well its not too bad. At least Rhinos can save against a Lascannon and at least the squad inside can still charge the melta offender after the Rhino gets blown up.

 

Rather than having all my 4 Rhinos blown up in Turn 1, nowadays even if the other guy has 5 Lascannons, only one will die. So while I wish for the fire points, it's not essential and balanced by the increased speed, durability and arguably better effect of pop smoke than last edition.
