Dracos
After much deliberation and impulse purchasing, I've decided to convert my Reivers into Scouts. I'll post pics as I build them (probably not going to make it into my ETL Vows). Like most conversions I've ever done it will be mostly swapping bit and letting the paint scheme assist in the illusion. 2 units with bolters ans 1 w CCW and polt pistol. I've spent a couple hours looking for previous attempts at this on here, Google Images and Pintrest and either my Search-fu has abandoned me, or this hasn't been done much before. I'm looking for a way to model the Heavy Bolters ... and so far my "best" idea is to snag the Assault Bolters off the Inceptor sprue and add a "silencer" extension to the barrel just to change the look up a bit. Has anyone seen this kind of conversion done? If so I'd greatly appreciate links to see if they would work for what I'm going for. Thanks Dracos Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/347363-reiver-counts-as/ Share on other sites
Panzer
The reason why it hasn't been done much is probably because Bolter or CCW conversions would still mostly look like ... Reiver. So basically to avoid confusion. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/347363-reiver-counts-as/#findComment-5083918 Share on other sites
Wargamer
I did this. I'll see if I can get you some pics. But in essence I used Anvil Industry parts to mark them out - Negotiator sniper rifles, no large shoulder pads and smaller power packs (Anvil again) that make them feel a bit lighter weight than Reivers. Dracos
Definitely eliminating the shoulder pads and was going to forego power pack also. I’ll look see if a smaller one would work. Something like the scouts actually have would be best of course. Wonder if shapeways would be any help there. Wargamer
If you want to stick with GW parts, I'd go with Scion backpacks. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/347363-reiver-counts-as/#findComment-5084086 Share on other sites

Ahistorian
The back of the SM vehicle sprue mini-lamp looks good as a cut-down power armour vent. I've done it on a couple of Inquisitors. Dracos
Just ordered a pack of Legion Heavy Bolters to convert two of the Reivers into HB Scouts for my Prime list. Couldn't think of anything better to do with 20 points. Going to check out those Scion backpacks next. Dracos
Reviving an old thread of mine to ask a question ... .... I am under the assumption that with the new Codex, canon lore has Primaris serving as Scouts before they complete the Primaris process? I’m asking because if it’s true, I’m going to fall back on my idea of converting 10 Reivers into 10 <Scouts> The Infiltrators and Incursors are just two expensive to help build a double battalion but I’m snowflake enough to want to have fluff explanation for having Scouts in my Primaris “only” army. Thanks for anyone who has the Codex and can answer I’m waiting for the RG to come out before I make a Big Purchase at the LGS. Dropping a chunk of change with 20% off on my next transaction :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/347363-reiver-counts-as/#findComment-5379762 Share on other sites
Bluflash
Lore wise, I do believe the scouts are akin to applicants, and haven't been primarized yet? At least that's how I'm justifying them in my primaris focused list. Lord_Caerolion
Yes, Scouts are definitely a thing for Primaris. They fill that role until their organs finish developing, then get promoted to the 10 Vanguard squads in 10th Company. Dracos
Well I just checked the point cost of the cloaks. More than I thought. So I have to decide cloaks, no cloaks, or Incursors? Definitely seems Incursors are worth the extra points if I go with the camo cloak so dropping the cloak idea. Bare bones Scout versus incursor is still an either or for me at the moment. Thanks for the info on the Lore. It helps me feel better about doing this if I decide to build with basic Scouts. Son of Sacrifice
Is it confirmed that primaris marines serve as scouts? I haven't seen that anywhere. In theory that would mean hopes of a new scout kit aren't dead. BluejayJunior
Is it confirmed that primaris marines serve as scouts? I haven't seen that anywhere. In theory that would mean hopes of a new scout kit aren't dead. There is a section in the codex that details the life/service record of a Primaris marine. He starts as a scout before being promoted to the Vanguard squads. Mandragola
I made my Crimson Fist scouts out of reiver bodies with spare intercessor arms. I hacked away at the detail of the arm and thigh armour and then replaced it with GS to look like clothing. They have backpacks made from a roll mat off the scout bike kit (which I had loads of), GS and assorted pockets and stuff from the bitz box. I made them with shotguns before the new bolter rules came out. If I wanted bolt guns I guess the existing reiver carbines would be the thing to use, probably with the front handles removed. Or you could use intercessor bolt pistols with reiver knives. Long barrels (with suppressors) and sights could make snipers – I’d probably base these on intercessor rifles using the stalker base. Overall I’m quite pleased with how they’ve come out. It didn’t actually take all that long. Hope this is helpful. Dracos
Well I don’t think I can do that but definitely is inspiration for when I get to the project (after finish the Intercessors over next week or two). I really would like to get a premade backpack or camo cloak (just for looks) so I’ll be scouting bits stores over next week or so if the Reliquary won’t be able to do what I’m looking for :) Thanks Dracos Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/347363-reiver-counts-as/#findComment-5380489 Share on other sites
