Fighting DE at 1250?

Any tips for fighting this in a 1250pt event? No named characters or LoW allowed, not using Tactical Reserves (Beta) rule, but using otherwise using all Big FAQ items.

Right off the top of my head I will probably take Tzaangors but with the splinter cannons, i think rubrics will be safe as well.

Right off the top of my head I will probably take Tzaangors but with the splinter cannons, i think rubrics will be safe as well.

Thinking 20 Rubrics (Bolters, Soulreapers, Plasma Pistol), 2 x 20 Tzaangors, 2 Daemon Princes, and 1 Exalted on a Disc with 2 Power Swords and a Plasma Pistol.

 

Give 1 Prince the Helm, 1 the Crystal, and Seer's Bane to the Exalted.  Should leave you 6CP. Put Weaver on the Aspiring in the Rubric Squad, then make sure you have Prescience, Glamour, Warptime, and Gaze somewhere in there. Give your Warlord High Magister.

 

Cut off the table with 60+ models, Warptime, and teleporting shenanigans, grind his vehicles down at 12 inches, and charge them. He won't have the bodies to absorb that shock. Should work against most other 1250 armies, too.

Yeah I think the RuBrick will work well enough against them. With all the S4 shooting with VotLW you can even pop some of those puny T5 transporter without proper anti-tank lol

And Tzaangors as always. They'll hit Eldar really hard and are easy to kill targets so they should get focussed a lot so the rest of your army should be fine.

And be sure to kill all of the splinter-heavy units first. This will make the Tzaangors even more of a pain (any who survive). Leave the AT for last, since you have no armor, and kill the Venoms, Raiders, and Warriors right away. Then you leave your enemy trying to kill a horde of infantry with 5++ or better with low ROF antitank weapons. Force him to swat flies with a sledgehammer and then drown him in flies.

 

BTW: The thing with the large prow is a Reaper. It is indeed FW. Basically a big antitank gun from what I remember.

If he's running Disintegrators everywhere as he should be and not Bright Lances, I'd actually advise against a big Rubric squad. Especially since DEldars can tie it in CC very easily.

 

I'd take as many sorcerers as I could with Daemon Prince. Hide them behind a big Tzaangor squad (buffed with everything) and have another squad of 30 in the Webway. Throw MW and take advantage of his lack of denies.

Well if he ties up your RuBrick his guys will be stuck as well and present a great target for counter charges from Princes and Tzaangors. ^^

Not to mention he has only 15 infantry and the CC attacks from the brick can actually destroy any of his transports with Vets of the Long War.....and then the Brick actually speeds up because of the consolidate moves. Furthermore, the Crystal can teleport them out of combat if need be....but I really wouldn't. The longer he decides to voluntarily stay in CC, is the longer he can't focus fire on the brick.

 

As for the disintigrators, I've walked the brick into tougher fire than that (Dark Reapers, D-Cannons, and Crimson Hunters) and come out with acceptable losses. -1 to be hit and +1 save help a ton. Also, the fact that he's hosed if the goats get to him with Vets and Cycle of Slaughter helps a bit. If you're not that confident, then use the Crystal (or webway since Beta Tac Reserves aren't being used) right away to close on the Ravagers (within 12-18 inches) and go all out to cripple them, then leave them alone to flail ineffectively while you kill other stuff.

Out of interest @GreaterChickenofTzeentch what would you add to that Rubrick list to scale it to 2000pts? Much like the OP I have a friend that loves his splinter spam and have been thinking of doing a Rubrick to see how it does.

My most recent 2K list is as follows (Battalion + Vanguard):

 

Ahriman

Prince w/Wings (Helm)

Walking Prince (Crystal)

Terminator Sorcerer

 

3 x 5 Scarab Occult (Hellfyres, 2 Soulreapers, one has a Hvy Warpflamer because it's modeled)

 

20 man brick with Bolters, Soulreapers, Inferno Bolt Pistol and Force Axe on Champ (Index Option, change if you need)

 

27 Tzaangors with Brayhorn (I accidentally wrote this as 30 in previous reports. Sorry.)

Not sure if that will hold up to full blown Drukhari at 2K. You'll have to maneuver carefully and time your deepstrikes and other movement shenanigans very well.

I think the Rubric blob would work great against that, He engaged me with a unit? Dark Matter Crystal out of combat then plug the squad off the table, engage whats left with the tzaangors and prince. 1250 is rough for us in general, less so for some armies.

It doesn't help matters for the DE when 18 Disintegrator shots kill only 3-4 members of the Brick thanks to Glamour and Weaver. Casualties go down to negligible if the Ravagers take 5 wounds each.
