Blood splatter or not?

Greetings!

A quick question. I have been working on my Terminators for ETL and have hit a hitch in regard to blood splatter.

As they were close combat marines, i was going to experiment with sprinkling around a little high velocity spatter and some suitable weapon gore.

However, my better half expressed the opinion that they look better just with the clean power/frost weapon glow.

Here is the one nearly finished terminator (line highlights needed and a slight tidy up)...

So i was thinking maybe something a bit like this (A swift Microsoft paint mock-up ftw! :cool.: ) ....

What do you think? I would value your opinions.

Many thanks,

GM.

In my experience better halves will always say that. They’ll also tell you your Deathguard have too many guts on show.

It looks quite restrained in your mock up which is sensible. You gonna use ‘blood for the blood god’ technical paint? You obviously want to do it. I’d say go for it. But it’s a one way street and your gonna need some mjod to take that first step and ruin that lovely perfectly white snow.

Great pose btw, nailed it.

The energy fields froom the claws, is supposed to cook the blood off, so keeping them clean with some blood effects on the base would be cool.

Either that ot do some browny red on the blades to look like dried blood about to flake off?

Maybe a few strands of brownish grey cotton wool glued to the claws might look cool, like blood infused smoke :)

I prefer a grittier/darker theme myself, so i use some minimal blood spatter (a little tends to go a long way mind).

Ive never liked blood on powerweapons, as the powerfield should not allow that to stick (in my mind anyway)..so I tend to leave blood to chainsword/axes...and some splatter on the armour itstelf.

Really nice terminator btw! great work so far

The cleaner look seems better to me, but part of that is that it seems odd to me for lightning claws (or any power weapon) to have bodily detritus on rather than burning it away.

This. It's mentioned many many times in the novels that activating a power weapon vaporizes any gore that might be on it.

If you want to do blood splatter it would look better if you did just a little bit on his armor

A lot of people are mentioning the power weapons effects on the blood.

Here is an outsiders view of a power axe in Dan Abnett's prospero burns. "A drizzle of blood droplets was flying off it, as if the blade was licking its lips".

That shouldn't stop you from doing it, but could be a guide.
