2 part question.

Recommended Posts

Ok, I just noticed a possible really cool combination, and I'm asking to verify that everything interacts the way I think it does.

1) Does a character embarked in a transport count as being on the battlefield for the purpose of effects that require him to be to work? I'm not talking about auras, I know those don't work in transports.

Specifically I'm considering putting a Deathwatch Warlord in a Damocles Command Rhino with the Warlord Trait that gives you back command points on a 5+. All it says is that he has to be on the battlefield. Will that trait function if he is in a transport that is on the table, or does he have to be on foot?

2) I'm considering combining a Deathwatch detachment with a Blood Angels detachment. If I give a Blood Angels character the relic that does the same thing as the above mentioned warlord trait, do I get to roll 2 dice when I use a strategem? And if they both succeed, do I get 2 command points back?

1) No. The rules for embarking tell us that embarking units are removed from the battlefield. We can also infer this from the following FAQ answer on resolving destroyed transports and disembarking formerly-embarked units:

"Note that if the transport does explode, units being transported are not affected as they are not yet on the battlefield."

2) Don't see any reason you can't use both and get two command points back, provided again they're both on the battlefield.

Cool, thanks.

I kinda thought the Command Rhino thing might not work. Saves me some money at least, since I haven't bought one yet.

Neat that I could potentially end up with more command points than I started with if I use 1 CP Strategems and succeed on both rolls. Definitely helps the pure Marine list difficulty with generating command points.

I'm working out a potential tournament list already :)
