I'd think about saving that space between the wings as a spot for a trophy or reliquary, something that wouldn't get in the way of his wings. As for a backup weapon, he does have a pistol. so perhaps moving the dagger to his other hip or the side of one of his shins? Or something more ornate like the daggers the custodes come with?

The DW shield is a good fit and the contrast of spartan DW vs. ornate BA looks good, so just some subtle additions like battle damage and plenty of purity seals should be enough... but I've thought about placing spikes at the three circular nodes (two at the top, one at the bottom) to make it a bit more aggressive.

 

Oh, and I like the helmet! It looks good and I find helmets way easier to paint...

 

ahhh, thanks for that one, i have one more shrine piece like the one hanging on the right side of his belt that i think i could drop in there that would fill that nicely.

- and I like the way you think about the shield... now i have use of that chaos trophy rack that has a dark angel helmet on it that would go perfectly with that, with battle damage and purity seals of course, and i'll do a test fit of the helmet and post later on tonight -

May have overdone it on the shield but overall I like it. Kind of wish I could put more purity seals but would have caused a clutter.

Thinking about wrapping a chain around his shoulder pad but eh..

Is the damage to the shield meant to reflect that which a Tyranid combat form inflicted? Is that a broken scything talon embedded in the shield?

As far as the shield just wanted to show the wear and tear at one point of time there was a battle against a tyranid but those are spikes that mjr had thrown out the idea about that I liked.. the blade is from an ork weapon to keep up with the concept that his preference of adversary is ork. Might "decorate" the hammer a bit more. It's rather clean and I want to make it a bit crude, but idk.

Making another watchmaster...

Due to increased creativity in other models, I wanted to try again with the watchmaster. I swapped backpacks on him cause I didnt want to fool with shaving the DA cape. So a bit of thought... and old watchmaster will become another floating librarian and things with older creations will be shifted...

So let's just say the new watchmaster will involve a chain .... and then this

labor day weekend. I stay in atlanta so it was pretty epic with dragon con, luda day weekend, the misses bday, ended up having dinner at the sundial (top of the westin building, revolving restaurant) an escape room on sunday and capping it off by watching 3 predator movies, so this weekend was pretty lit.... BUT I was able to get a watchmaster out through it all. :D

sooo I'm not gonna lie, this one was pretty tedious, but also fun to work with. I'm really happy about him. The only thing is, I have to make a base with him leaning so more to create more of a dynamic pose.

So I present Ancient Yaujta Watchmaster, Bane of Monstrosities...

Its alot going on, wished the camera picked more up on it. But he is supposed to be running slinging a severed swarmlord head. Would be counting this as his clavis move. Wished watchmaster had more weapon options and what not but eh.

Not gonna lie, this was hard and the took the longest. Messed up the first time And too much glue distorted the first hand. But essentially pinned the head to backpack, backpack to the back, had to pin the left arm, and drill holes top and bottom of the fist. Chain wrap was fun, to make it float was even better. Caught it during a painting tutorial and applied it.

The other tedious part was the torso. I had got inspired to do a gravis watchmaster and in the midst of it just got carried away. Bought 2 sprues of aggressor bits for a buck and had a front torso on there. Still had a good amount of custodes bits. So I went to cutting. Fit was decent but my cuts were barbaric. Ended up beveling it out. With flame and file (not recommended) and eventually did too much and needed to be filled out with accessories, when I really wanted to put hip gaurd on him. But oh well. Not gonna lie I slick hate the gut plate, I should do something about. Open to suggestions. Everything blended well a lil top heavy and his armor reminds me of some overdid gundam or an anime mech, but I wanted him to be distinguished.

Switched out arms cause I still have alot of custodes bits but it's all want for hqs and termies. But kept all of the insignias cause i wanted him eagled out.

Well that's all I can think of including in this post, hope you like, I'm not finished so I'm open to more suggestions. Will be working on another death reaper, inquisitor and maybe finishing this test model. Been waiting on nuln oil but has yet to deliver. We will see. If I dont reply back today hope you guys have a nice labor day

Revamping my librarian, Ive done maybe 4 but trying to widdle it down to 2 constant use ones. So one for DW and then one from BA... As of right now i'll be working on DW librarian using the old watchmaster model i used... (using the Dark Vengeance Chaplain body)

and bought a couple of bits to support my imagination, essentially floating and blasting.... I have this in mind for SMITE

Hopefully it comes out well when the pieces get in. :)

Update time!!! Finally got a paint job in on a sergeant. testing a color scheme on a sergeant. Loved the look of the red scorpions and implemented most of that scheme here but instead of yellow, went gold. definitely starting to see where I need to work on and what brushes I'm actually better at. Never worked with edge highlighting (considering this is only the 3rd miniature I've painted) so I'm just realizing how difficult/patient you have to be. And then faces, yeezus christ... either way the misses says I need to bring the accessories out more since the gold stands out. I agree but tell me what you think. *here with pen and paper ready to take notes * ;)

Sn: I'm not doing pupils. Tried 5 times. annoying... they will have dope ass anime angry eyes. Lol

So the parts from the previous post came in, just trying to find arms and what not to do some good fitting but not progress on it then positioning and what not.

Cut the foot out and found the jacked up pieces I still had left from a primaris librarian and used the left foot to be angled down. Have to putty in the rest (thanks Amazon refund)

Just trying to get the position right, but it will essentially be coming out of his left hand 4th sword down, I'm just in the debate should there be something surrounding his hand or just coming out of it. Not the best at green stuff and I have milliput and it tends to get messy. So we will see. Open to suggestions.

And last another commander for my AM squad, who was originally suppose to be an inquisitor but I made a bad decision to not buy legs cause I thought I had bits for him. So he ended up looking less inquisitor like and more commander ie space pirate. Fun build and want to make him a lord commisar but I couldn't make him my warlord cause I couldn't get a relic aquila, idk battlescribe acts funny when referencing so I would have to look it up.

Other than I bought an Aos statue base for my watchmaster some ork stuff for my BA ork hunter detachment and some base scenery.

Hopefully you like the paint job. Got a squad to do, and learning more. I'm happy with the color but if I want to make the kitbashes truly awesome I have to save them for last when I build my skill up. :) hope you like. All comments are appreciated

Finishing up over the weekend, got most of the librarian build put together. Not gonna lie, very tedious. Drilled through the hand into the arm, then into the body connecting to the hilt.

The most fun i had was building his combi flamer force axe. Two necron blades, with a spacewolf axe at the bottom connected to his combi flamer. I have to clean up the cape area to where its obvious i cut the back pack off so maybe some hoses or cables to channel his eternal flame, im not sure, but it has to be something. overall fun to build, hope you like.

While cleaning, i did break my watchmaster and the pieces fell off so i ended up placing them on a previous project that I had did and wanted to know which one you think is better #1 or #2 with 2 being the orignial. He will be on this base

AND FINALLY, decided to work on a terminator sergeant (Death Reaper) to replace the other one since he is more decorated than HQ.

- I like him, fun build, looks like a sergeant could be an hq but doesnt scream HQ like the other. I also will be taking the axe heads off, I realize I was doing too much with him.

- WELP, THIS WAS ALOT TO POST, I know yall tired of me flooding the thread with grey, so back to painting I MIGHT GO :) will be getting a practice game in with my BA detachment with the misses and teaching myself and her some more and getting my tactics together. So appreciate you guys' time and comments, I promise i will get more stuff painted. I did one sergeant up above, and realize where i need to work at and what brushes and the concept of quality of quantity when it comes to it. Dude I appreciate it. My problem I keep coming up with ideas to work with, with models i already built. This one just worked better. But I always wanted to do a legit floating guy since I seen them on pinterest. My bit guy finally had em and I figured why not. And I've been seeing squats bashes and they look awesome. I'm more of a bigger is better. Not to mention space marine parts are easier and cheaper to convert. So you going out the ordinary makes you a specialist lol. I want to do primaris sanguinary guard next but idk yet. I need to paint and start playing more

Currently working on my Sanguinary Guard for my BA detachment and studying painting techniques and watching tutorials havent really had time to work on my DW, but one late night updated my Deepstrike Killteam. Had some actual DW legs from a box set so i wanted to incorporate it into my elite squad.

Original deepstrike squad

- watch sergeant w/ lance and stormbolter

- blackshield with chainsword and stormbolter

- two SS and stormbolter

- 2 lance and stormbolter

- 1 frag

- 2 terminator with power sword and stormbolter

- 1 vv

took out the black shield and terms and added 3 plasma guns and chainswords for chip damage and anti-elite infantry

- Vet w/ Plasma Gun & Chainsword (not applied because he is cluttered) -

Like this guy, he definitely looks like a hunter, the plasma gun may be up too high, but I had SW plasma guns that came in my bit bag but dont recall what arms to use, pain in the ass tbh, hence the purity seal (uh oh bandaids)

That head has been placed on 6 different oldies, think it has a home. I also hate kitbashing 2 handed weapons (slightly bent handle). but i like this look for him.

Didnt care to much for blackshields as much anymore seeing how we can easily die, they played a big role in my smaller test run games. but since I threw in blood angels, i decided to go with a shooty DW, the power lances are fluff purposes to establish elite status. and im tired of chainswords and hate duplicating stuff.

Thats its for now, will be finishing up my Sanguinary guard today and maybe get some painting done. Bought some new brushes and want to apply what i learned painting wise. So hope you like

Didnt know how much I would miss B&C till it was out the game for the longest, but feels good that its back online. Im close to finishing one squad. Been learning more and trying to apply it to models. However my true passion still lashes out and built some more up. Working on the BA detachment but then bit sellers had some good things to sell and the imagination ran over.

WATCH MASTER MADNESS!!!

ive technically made about 6, but kept redoing them until I felt it was right.

- First watchmaster i created and just left alone has been reworked on 3 times, keep trying to get it right but by this time i was just done. Watchmaster with swarmlord head, and continuosly looking at it just annoyed it didnt come out how I wanted

I tried, but i just couldnt get it right, so i left it alone, i may come back around to it.

But then.....

Birth of A Clan Leader

- i finally came across Primaris bits, and i always loved the lieutenant model from the Dark Imperium box and it finally came my way, and the imagination went into full effect and because i didnt LOVE the previous model in this post I was determined to get this right. So I went to work and it just really came out well for me, minimum mistakes, no bs, and everything felt right -

- Theres always cleanups that you have to do when you notice them in pictures, but anyways, i cut a lil bit too much trying to match everything up, and where you see the blue is where I do my most unorthodox, probably not the best idea work. I take blue tac, pack it in as much as i can. smooth it out, cut into it to match the area surrounding and then just drop thin super glue on top of it to hard. You cant tell because it shiny, but thats just the reflection of the superglue. I started doing this to fill out Space marine torsos onto Stormcast and Custodes parts, because i was not confident in using putty and it made huge messes, and just havent stopped, there is a good bit of models here and on my BA thread that i do this and it doesnt come out bad, any excess just gets scraped and removed and its been working out till I get my skills up in sculpting -

- As of right now, i cant get him on the base right without him looking like he is leaning back a lil and needs a nice foothold on that base. But i honestly love it, really happy how he turned out, used some pieces that i first started out with on the thread and being able to utilize it here, just really showed my progress (to me atleast, im my biggest terrible critic) from when i first started the thread and kitbashing. So appreciate you reading, nice to see the site back up, hope you guys missed my Kitbashes, I AM PAINTING PLEASE BE PATIENT WITH ME, and keep rocking with me through this WIP. Trying to get like the greats on here and turn this into a passion. All of my other stuff that i do are on instagram @ mad.hattenstein updated my avatar as my pre logo till I draw something up.
