Diagramdude
Can a Tallarn Baneblade variant with sponsons legally Ambush? The model is more than 7" wide sponson to sponson, so it can't physically be placed "wholly within" 7" of the board edge. But my friend said this debate was settled long ago and that they can Ambush. I just don't see how. From the FAQ: Q. Can you clarify what the difference is between ‘wholly within’ and ‘within’ for rules purposes? A. If a rule says it affects units/models that are ‘wholly within’ then it only applies if the entire unit/model is within. If it just says ‘within’, however, then it applies so long as any part of the unit/model is within. For example, units gain the benefit of cover if every model in the unit is either on or within terrain. So long as all the models in that unit are either on or partially within the terrain, they gain the benefit of cover. So the Baneblade is a single model and the entire model is not within 7" of the board edge. Therefore, illegal. Right? shandwen
Well, of there is a super steep hill running right along the edge... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/347600-ambushing-baneblades-with-sponsons/#findComment-5090646 Share on other sites
FallenSoldiers
Ill have to dig for it... but I know I read somewhere that (at least for Leman Russ tanks) you do NOT count the sponsons for measurement. Perhaps this also applies to Baneblades? Diagramdude
Actually I just measured mine after building it. Exactly 7" sponson to sponson so no issue! Tyr13
I think they mightve chosen 7" specifically so a baneblade would fit. I mean, 7" is such a weird number otherwise. Usually, GW does multiples of 6 after all. Bmseifer
Well according to that faq: if the stratagem just says 'within' then the model just has to be partially within. If it says 'wholly within' then it's exclusive (if the entire model is not within, then it isn't within) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/347600-ambushing-baneblades-with-sponsons/#findComment-5092864 Share on other sites
Diagramdude
Ambush says "wholly within" but the Baneblade with sponsons is exactly 7" so it's not a problem.
