Axineton
To your miniatures bases? Reason I ask is I bought one of those gamemats from gamemat.eu and I opted for the green grassy one so if I branched into aos or the hobbit I'd have a mat that would suit most games. So I'm just wondering if I should base my White Consuls green and grassy to match the mat? I really want to base the a reddish Martian colour though Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/347605-does-it-really-matter-if-your-gaming-surface-is-different/ Share on other sites
Brother Tyler
Not at all. To me, having the miniature bases match the tabletop only matters if you're building a display/diorama. Aside from that, you're likely (hopefully) to see your miniatures grace a variety of different tables when you play, anything from an icy world to urban terrain to the inside of a space hulk. Halandaar
Not in the least; and if you're playing on multiple tables in multiple locations, you'd never get them to match all the time anyway! Another consideration is that you would then need to base every army in the same (or a similar way), which may not look great with the colour schemes of particular armies. With that said, I personally would opt to have my own playing surface in the same sort of style as the bases on my models, but that's based purely on the fact that I base my models the same way anyway, so there's no compelling reason not to have a matching surface. Quixus
The only alternative I can think of is getting acrylic bases for all your miniatures. That way you will always have the right bases. The downside however is that your miniatures appear to be hovering. walter h
I had thought to use clear bases at one point myself so my guys would always be in the environment. Claws and Effect
I got a bunch of the concrete slabs bases from Kromlech. They look great (and are stupid easy to paint), and they fit in on a fairly wide variety of tables.
