Guest l_bilyk
non standard? :) what do you mean? he's green isn't he?! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/34761-colors-of-the-powers/page/9/#findComment-483521 Share on other sites
hyper-acromegaly
Ya, but he's not that brown sickly green or rotting flesh tinged green. He looks more like a Dark angel left on a pile of corpses too long. (Maybe it's the Imperial backpack that's throwing me.) Anyway, I like it, he looks cool. daemonkin
GOW: How did you highlight up the non - metallic gold? It is excellent work BTW. :( I will post my first TS squads asap. I am going for a real Egyptian themed army with lots of hieroglyphs and loin cloths etc. I have converted 2 tanks so far, rhino and pred with their tracks cut off and covered up to represent them hovering. mounted on large flying bases they dont look too bad. Have used Warhammer Khemri Ushabti for Possessed with daemonic talons for no other reason than the models are beautiful and I want to paint some up. My Chaos Lord / Lieutenant is a conversion of Mephiston with bits from Ahriman and a back banner from Khemri. Hope to get these units all done when I can find time between work and work! Regards Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/34761-colors-of-the-powers/page/9/#findComment-488305 Share on other sites
Ghost of War
To be fair that work is done by my good friend Bennet Blalock Doane (see Chicago Games Day 2003). Its brown built to yellow glam highlighted with lighter shades. When I get my termies done up you can see it more. I just need to get the guy with the camera.. daemonkin
Thx GOW :D All I need to do now is find time to sit down and paint up a couple of squads. Got 4 boxes of 'Paul Daniels*' marines waiting around and a couple of rhinos and a just - started converted dread all awaiting my precious time. Hope to get a 4-way game in next week against WE and spacky wolves and EC/guard. Will post short batrep as and when. Regards. * For those who dont know Paul Daniels was/ is a strangely British magician/comedian who even tho was shorter than a dwarf lying down had a lovely wife/assistant called Debbie Magee <strokes legs suggestively!> Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/34761-colors-of-the-powers/page/9/#findComment-488562 Share on other sites
descensus
The first squad I painted not the whole army. http://img78.photobucket.com/albums/v252/descensus/Death%20Guard/squad_1.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/34761-colors-of-the-powers/page/9/#findComment-491116 Share on other sites
Lord Kenji
Frontierpediatry, that is a beautiful army. Here are a few pics of my new squad. I have only been painting for 5 months, so they are not nearly as good as yours, but I am very proud of them. They are still a WIP, but they are getting there. I plan on fixing the highlights and, ofc ourse, they still need to be based. http://www.thedroppod.net/gallery/albums/Death-Guard/43600017_G.jpg http://www.thedroppod.net/gallery/albums/Death-Guard/43600020_G.jpg http://www.thedroppod.net/gallery/albums/Death-Guard/43600024_G.jpg http://www.thedroppod.net/gallery/albums/Death-Guard/43600032_G.jpg http://www.thedroppod.net/gallery/albums/Death-Guard/43600033_G.jpg http://www.thedroppod.net/gallery/albums/Death-Guard/43600034_G.jpg http://www.thedroppod.net/gallery/albums/Death-Guard/43600035_G.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/34761-colors-of-the-powers/page/9/#findComment-491373 Share on other sites
Lord Kenji
Here is a Chaos Warrior I am converting into a Plague Marine for my new army. I am going to do a squad of 7 of these. http://www.thedroppod.net/gallery/albums/Death-Guard/43600037_G.jpg http://www.thedroppod.net/gallery/albums/Death-Guard/43600038_G.jpg http://www.thedroppod.net/gallery/albums/Death-Guard/43600039_G.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/34761-colors-of-the-powers/page/9/#findComment-491382 Share on other sites
hyper-acromegaly
Those fantasy warriers look very gothic and sweet. As for the Plague Marines that "Lord Kenji" did. They look very crusty and pretty damn good. You might want to give then a very thin ink wash though to get rid of the gritty texture of the paint and make then look more smooth. Lord Kenji
Thanks. I will post more WIP of the chaos warrior conversions as I do them. From feedback from the painting section, I will be doing some changes to improve the look and feel. I actually like the gritty look to the paint, because it give them that rotting, rusting, unclean feel to the models that I associate with nurgle. Lord Kenji
Here is another WIP conversion of a chaos warrior to a plague marrine. http://www.thedroppod.net/gallery/albums/Death-Guard/43600044_G.jpg http://www.thedroppod.net/gallery/albums/Death-Guard/43600045_G.jpg http://www.thedroppod.net/gallery/albums/Death-Guard/43600046_G.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/34761-colors-of-the-powers/page/9/#findComment-492222 Share on other sites
hyper-acromegaly
Those Knights just look so gothic and cool. I can't believe I never thought of that before. Or at least someone else. Lord Kenji
Ya. When I saw them in the magazines and then in the stores, I knew I had to do it. I am seriously considering doing to squads of seven or possibly using some as khorne bezerkers later. The only thing I do not like about them is the fact that they are so static. I am not sure I want to cut the legs off and use something different yet. At any rate, thanks! hyper-acromegaly
Static would be way cool for Tzeench. Maybe make a Thousand Son's army with theses guys. As a bonus they would cost a bit less too. Lord Kenji
Now that is a great idea. I had not thought about that one! I think I might do that for my Unidvided army and add them as an Elite. Thanks for the idea. I will post WIP when I get my nurgle army's first 1000 points done. SomeRandomGuy
Very impressive models there, GoW. Incidentally, I've decided to make all of my ACs in power armor use powerfists. It just looks too damn cool not to. With all of the great conversions and paint jobs in this thread, I can't quite decide if I'm inspired or intimidated, as painting has never been one of my strengths. Zirellion
http://img51.photobucket.com/albums/v157/Zirellion/Dingsebomse_DG.png It's still a bit WIP (deatils and some stapling) and then it's done, but you can still see the armours main colours. Lord Kenji
It is a little hard to see all the colors, but this is looking pretty good so far. I would like to see some more highlighting.
