2nd unit of wulfen

Well, there seems to be two ways of building wulfen.

The way you have your first unit: a la TH SS + GFA

Then theirs the usual 5 frost claws.

Some people ever go with two full units of 10 - backed by Ulrik or Logan. 10 Wulfen with frost claws is good... Re rolls to everything!

I personally did my Wulfen with TH but it is a bit silly. The best way to get bamg for your buck with them from MEQ up is the Great Axe, especially if you add a Jump Pack Wolf Priest and a Jump Pack WGBL with them. Having what are basically Powrr Fists without the -1 and an extra attack on the charge are brutal. Put them.On the Hunt amd have a happy hunting. But always bring at least a few hammers, moatly for the durability they add. They make them marginally worse than a Terminator at surviving AP 0 and better at everything else, so you want them.

If you are debating of they are a new squad or not... why not build them as a squad and if you want then add them.to you existing one? It will mean one will have Frost Claws insyead of a flashier weapon when taken as a single squad but you can make him an ablative wound model.

I like them with 50% Storm Shields at least, just to make them durable enough that hopefully they survive my opponent tossing the kitchen sink at them.

Yup, given that Wulfen come with a base 4+ save, a couple of Storm Shields seem like an absolute no-brainer choice. I have found that even a squad of 5 has a chance of reaching the enemy if they have a few SSs and a Wolf Priest to patch them up as they cross the board. As you say, they will attract all your opponent's firepower so make use of that and keep up the pressure as long as possible. Deny him the easy kill and even if the Wulfen don't reach his lines, the rest of your army should be in good shape to take him down.

Given the way 8th edition seems to have shaped up in the alpha-strike edition, any reasonably fast unit that packs a decent invulnerable save is in a strong position.
