The Questor Imperialis Bandwagon Thread

Recommended Posts

So because Imperial knights are about to hit the ground running as a fully playable force with its own codex, I guess it's worth starting a thread for all the folks joining the BnC household.

So with that in mind.

I'm a knight fanatic with eleven knights in my household so far.

And probably picking up at least four Helverins to start with these new releases.

I also love knights.

Currently I have 11 knights (4 Warglaives, 3 Questoris, 1 Acheron, 1 Castigator, 1 Atrapos, 1 Styrix). The plan is 1 of the big fellas and 2 additional small dudes after having a read through the codex.

I will play House Vornherr that was eradicated during Calth but I play that they rebuilt in those long years. :D

I chose House Terryn because i really like how they look. Currently have an Errant, Paladin and a Crusader as well as a couple of warglaives. Looking to get a Castellan, a Preceptor and then maybe a Valiant and yet undecided number of helverins, depends on their customization options.

I remember when the first knight came out, I had to have one. I ended up enjoying building and painting it so much I immediately had to have another. And then the Warden came about and I had to had one of those. I didn't really know what I was gonna do with them though. The 7th edition codex never felt much of an improvement of a codex that had a questionably low amount of datasheets to begin with (even though it more than doubled the datasheets). Now, its being doubled again with an entirely new chassis, multiple armiger variants, and a unique character on the way, it feels so much more rounded and coming into its own as an army.

Really feels like good time to get into knights now with this new codex :smile.:

1 Errant, 1 Warden, 1 (to build) Crusader, and 4 Armigers (left the arms off, accurately expecting an additional kit on that chassis) here.

I committed to painting Hawkshroud's yellow long before the rumors, so I'm glad to see that my choice was the right one as far as rules are concerned.

Plan on getting a Castellan and an Armiger Helverin box when they release.

While I currently only own one, an Errant from 6th ed, as a 30+ year gamer that Battletech before 40k hit the US, and played Epic since Space Marine, I still own 96 epic scale Knights, 8 epic Warlords, and 2 epic Imperitors. My Warhounds and Reavers wondered off.

Definitely looking forward to the new codex and Knight models, might even get me to play 8th.

Alright, I'll have to take the plunge. This release really has me stoked to give House Gorkamorka (until I can come up with a better name) a go:

Will probably start with the following bunch:

  • Morktifactor, "Valiant" or "Castellan" class
  • Flash Terror, "Warden" class
  • Deff Waaagh, "Crusader" class
  • Waaagh Skar, "Helverin" class
  • Sturm Lad, "Helverin" class
  • Fire Lad, "Helverin" class
Until I can think of other names to add to the list which won't clash too much with the army... The Hack Lad would have been a nice name, but I don't think a lone purple knight would fit all that well amongs all the red, black and white...

+Edit: A thought just popped into my head and I sure hope Games-Workshop has left some options open regarding the armament of the Valliant and Castellan; the Castellan is my favore of the two, but I'd rather give it shoulder-missiles instead of the guns, so I hope that the two profiles simply have locked-in main guns and the rest remains flexible...

House Trycerios here, Outriders of Legio Tempestus,Scions of Lightning, I have:

Freeblade: The Ochre Huntress, a Warden

House Trycerios Crusader: Aquarius of Fourthhall, armed with RFBC and Avenger

The Twins: 2x Arimger Warglaives of House Trycerios.

I will be picking up Renegade, a Valiant, and a box of Helverins. I plan to magnetize all of them, but want a second crusader and a Gallant/Errant out of renegade. I don't plan to stop buying Knights, since they are the most fun I've had painting and building.

I'm hoping those are all carapace options. Unfortunately I see the sprues coming with 2 cannon and 2 missile sets so you can't do 3 of each.

Knights did not exist in 40k when I left the game, and they were one of the models that rekindled my interest once I saw them. I have been waiting patiently for them to move past their index before jumping on board, but I'm so ready to paint some huge stompy robots!

I've ordered 2 Crusaders, one Castigator and one Acheron, have 2 Warglaives from Forgebane. I'll definitely be getting ime Dominus, and one Praetor, plus 2 Helverins on release day

I have painted 6, sold 3, and 4 in progress. Does that make me house "WIP"? lol

Well I guess I have to be honest and say aside from my painted Armigers I really haven't been grabbed by a house yet.

I would LOVE to make my Mechanicus functional with true interaction with a Knight House in game (not just fiction, but table function). However I'm willing to accept that may never realistically happen.

So I will say perhaps I will enjoy a new house, Imperial or Mechanicus... waiting to see how they look and act. :tu:

I had the idea of making a band of Freeblades, if only so I could give them diffrent colors and stuff, but sense there's now going to be rules for personalizing Freeblades in the new codex I'm really excited to get that going.

but I also want to save up for Titanicus in August... well at least that will give me a place to test color schemes.

If done right, they are easy to build and fast to paint.

First - build the legs and prime with leadbelcher spray, heavy wash with Nuln Oil

Second - torso &shoulders (don't forget to magnetize them), prime with leadbelcher, heavy wash with Nulm Oil

Leave all the plates separate and prime them in the color(s) of your house and paint the details.

Weapons are the last things I build and paint. :D

Depending on the details you want to paint this may be an approach to get your knights painted pretty easily.

I've got one Knight up and running (he has a Battle cannon and Reaper arm swap in too)

The other two and the two forgebane little ones might get done now (currently way down the backlog), but I'm waiting to see if the hero box can e merged in with one of my unbuilt knigts to do two of the new types.

I started playing 40K far too long ago, getting an interest during the Rogue Trader era via WD, and buying my first 'real' army around the launch of 2nd Edition.

Walking into a shop and seeing a Knight for the first time in 40K scale was what brought me back to the game really. I've collected them (slowly, for they aren't the cheapest force to field) ever since.

My House Malinax Banner consists of the following to date:

  • Miserichord - Cerastus Knight Atrapos
  • Silentium - Cerastus Knight Lancer
  • Nex - Cerastus Knight Castigator
  • Anathema - Questorus Knight Styrix
  • Atritas - Questorus Knight Gallant
  • Caligo - Questorus Knight Crusader
  • Danse Macabre - Acastus Knight Porphyrion

I think I'll pick up Renegade again - it's too good a deal to pass up, and even just the parts are useful frankly. I quite like the look of the Valiant too, though really want to know how things pan out before committing there - my disposable income is fairly limited these days.

House Malinax, but loyalists who were lost off fighting remnants of the Rangdan in the Ghoul Stars and return in 40k finding that their planet is traitors. They operate as a tenuous house autonomous from the Imperium but will ally themselves with any forge world for the right price.

A lot of you guys are more ambitious with your knights than I am, I have a warden/crusader magnetized and painted, and a castigator magnetized with painting in progress. Plan for my knight army so far is a castellan and 2 helverins added to my existing collection. Goal is 2000 points. It all depends on rules for the models and points, given a crusader currently sits between 500-600 and a castigator is 500, points are a bit limited, so the Castellan better not end up above 700 :D

I discovered something interesting today that you might enjoy Charlo.

You know those hieroglyphs that you see on Malinax Knights? Apparently, they are 'Chthonic script'... That's intriguing as I can only assume by Chthonic they're referring to the language of Chthonia - Home world of Horus, and the Luna Wolves/Sons of Horus.

Knowing that House Malinax were moved from their original homeworld and assigned to Xana II, does that mean that Cthonia is a homeworld candidate? Or that just that they really liked hanging out with Horus and his boys and daub their language over everything? You certainly don't seem to encounter it with any other Traitor entity that I've seen, so it raises some really interesting fluff questions. O.o
