The Questor Imperialis Bandwagon Thread

Awesome stuff guys. Excuse my Forgeworld ignorance but how would you rate those particular knights against the new Dominis class units?

Apples and oranges really buddy. A Porphyron is much more durable (T9 is a big deal and rare, and 1cp rotate is very helpful), Porphy puts out fewer shots, but has much more focused firepower. It's a super heavy killer par excellence, rather than a Knight with a lot of varied firepower like the Dominus.

With traits and relics and strats now, you could potentially put out 100+ wounds in one volley (but you won't realistically roll that) but it comes at a cost of about 900 points, so honestly it's priced more for Apoc games these days - which makes a certain sense for a unit that could delete a smaller Titan in one round, and at less than half the cost.

Do you think some of the FW knights will move from questoris to dominus class, like the porphyron?

The class represents the chassis used. Porphyrion has it's own class, Acastus. I don't think any FW knight will be Dominus.

Indeed.

Technically, there are (so far) 6 known Knight classes (in rough size order, smallest to largest):

Armiger,

Questorus

Cerastus

Achaeus (no knights have been seen or released in this class - so far it exists in current/recent fluff alone)

Dominus

Acastus

But yeah, as Tyriks says, you don't ever move classes.

I can't be the only one that thinks it is unnecessarily confusing that there is a Dominus class considering the likelyhood that the knight could be followed around by a Tech Priest Dominus? I know names get re-used in 40k from time to time but having them in two armies that can be as closely integrated as Admech and Knights is a wee bit annoying. :p

Interesting choice! I love the model for the sheer badassery of its weapon options - but I own enough cool models that I don't play with (for now, until the next time the muses claim me). How do you plan on fielding it? In what kind of list? I'd be so happy to be convinced to let my "be sensible" guard down and splurge on one.

Honestly, it's much more a conversion opportunity than anything artist wise.

I've been thinking about selling my painted knights and trying a more pilgrimage based force. We'll see on that side.

But conversion wise, taking inspiration from the Imperator, chain beard, creaking joints.

Something that feels like an old man of war.

List wise, honestly I don't know, Valiant, 2 Gallants and two guard battalions fits for 2k at a guess. Probably not competative but loads of CPs to use and abuse.

Oops I did a thing.

I have a few of the FW cerastus knights to plod alongside my 30k Alpha Legion. But I fear this here is the beginning of an actual 40k army and my first since before Necrons and Tau were a thing.

Expect a glacially slow knight wip log alongside my glacially slow alpha legion log now. Yay progress speed halved for all !

Aye Flame boy, they will indeed be built as dragoons for nothing is more ridiculous than a perpetual motion machine, fashioned into the form of an ostrich and ridden by man-bot that thinks it is a European Renaissance era cavalryman.

There is is a distinct lack of Kastellans in that pile but only because my 30k origins have provided me with access to a bunch of Castellax which I can proxy if needed.

Happy knight day to you all !
