Im a Newb player and Newb to the forum.

the space marines Aggressor Squad (pg 157 codex)

"Each model is armed with auto boltstorm guantlets and a frag grenade Launcher. "

Auto boltstorm Guantlets (shooting) Assault 6 type

points per weapon 14

Aggressor points per model 25

Question, how many boltstorm guantlets is my model wearing?

is it 2, one on each hand?  which makes the the models total points       25+14+14=57      (+4 fragstorm grenade launcher)=61

The model is defiantly holding 2 weapons.

Are the weapons considered 1 weapon?  25+14=38   (+4 grenade launcher)= 42

3 units =171

with 12 dice +D6 per unit per attack is a lot of action

compared to

6 dice +D6 per unit per attack.

the optional War Gear does little to clarify this.  Altho comparing the Heavy Flamer to the Flamestorm Guantlets hints that they are linked or are 1 weapon.

Thank you for any help.

The wording is that it's armed with 'auto boltstorm gauntlets'. The rules are for just that, as are the points. It will implicitly tell you if it has more than one of something, if it does. It means each model has 6 shots for the gauntlets, and D6 for the fragstorm. Points are calculated like that, meaning they are 42 points a model.
The Daemon Prince is worded similarly, the model/unit comes with a hellforged sword and a set of malefic talons. You can swap out his sword for a second set of malefic talons. It then has points listed for a single malefic talons or a pair of malefic talons, poor wording on their part.

For a new player getting into the game they seem to change the rules faster than I can paint the models.

Where is the best site to look up point costs in general?  It seems all my "new" books  (literally the new SM codex) are out dated already.

Chapter approved 2017 updated some of the point values.

As a general rule, you want the rulebook, codex and latest chapter approved, and faqs for same for the current rules.

You use the latest published points for a unit for matched play, which will be chapter approved for some units, and the codes for the rest that weren't changed.

Power levels haven't been changed iirc, so the codex is sufficient for power level narrative games.
