Rod.H
Now I started these a few years back when they splash released DW & a codex, the Start Collecting box was yet to come. So I've Kill Team Cassius built as in the box (that's pretty much a Patrol detachment as it is), DW Watch Master and Terminator Captain. Then there's the units with assembly options; the current space marine commander with combimelta & powermace, five Vangard Vets (sgt: plasma pistol/powersword; heavy thunderhammer, boltgun/powersword, boltgun/stormshield, dual lightning claws), which leaves the DW Kill Team marines, that some how number eleven, as the eleventh has a missile launcher, meaning I've raided the bits box to make it. When I first rechecked them I thought that I didn't make a Sargent, but as I've one with a combimelta & xenophase sword I suspect that's it, I've 4 with shotguns, 2 with Stalker with one of them on a Blackshield the other Blackshield is powermace/stormshield, boltgun/stormshield and one each of the frag cannon & Infernus. And last is the AC/BRL Corvus Blackstar. I'm certain I've raided the toybox enough but what to do next I don't know, I'm thinking Hellblasters & another Corvus. shandwen
Hellblasters and/or intercessors would be good, as would be filling out specific builds for your get squads. I love stalker boltguns, but they demand to be their own squad. I'm still at a bit of a loss for what to do with shotguns (I haven't came up with a solid strategy to use then yet), and I find myself wanting more regular guys... The other option would be a venerable dread. His firepower is solid and fills a niche DW has a hard time filling: lazcannons. Rod.H
Well, picking up a Start Collecting box should help me with boltgun welding DWSM & provide a Ven Dred. Hellblasters, I picked up a box of them to use some for Deathwatch & others for one of the other chapters I have. Intercessors, if only I could find a combat squad box of them as don't know if I want more then 5, though I could do what I did with the Dark Angel Intercessor box & make two squads of 5. shandwen
You should have a good sized force with what you have, a start collecting, and a squad of hellblasters. Intercessors are rather like icing on the cake (an alternate troop with some benifits). Rod.H
With Hellblasters, am I right in thinking that most people run them with the stock loadout or all assault. I stick stalkers in a squad with Infernus or regular heavy bolters so I can match their range with Kraken bolts. I run shotguns and frag cannons in the same squad so the whole squad can advance and shoot. Vel'Cona
With Hellblasters, am I right in thinking that most people run them with the stock loadout or all assault. I feel that the stock Plasma Incinerator gives an excellent blend of mobility, volume of fire and hitting power. The Assault version loses out significantly on hitting power, especially versus hard targets, while the Heavy version is both slower and has less shots available. The worst part is both come at increased cost, but don't really increase the effectiveness of the unit. leth
When looking at deathwatch, it basically comes down to "Does special issue ammo take care of this? No? Alright then what will?" Also when selecting weapons, assume that your hard hitting units will be in deepstrike and plan ranges around that. Basically the plasma is there almost 100% to take on Vehicles That are T6/7/8. The Str 6 version does not do that for you.
