Jams set back Chimera tutorial

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I've had quite a few requests over on the Astra Militarum subforum how to achieve this look:

Firstly,

Put the Chimera together minus the top plate section.

Then using a hobby saw, make a cut just before the top hatch of the top plate like so:

Once you've done this, make a cut just after the 2nd set of viewing ports on the bit you've chopped off (note you can go closer towards the viewing ports):

Once this is cut, glue this section in place:

After this, you'll need to do some dry fitting to work out how much plasticard you'll need to fill the gap at the front. Once you've done this, glue it into place:

As you can see for the hatch at the front I've used the hatches that were supposed to go at the rear.

Any gaps were filled with green stuff, and a small piece of plasticard was used to fill the hatch behind the turret.

The turret autocannon is simply one of the hydra battery cannons.

It looks like this before any final liquid greenstuff and base coats are added:

Hope this is useful for my fellow treadheads!

Very nice tutorial and model, so you just lose 4 Las Rifles.

Thank you!

Yeah just the 4 lasguns, to be fair the first one I made in the completed image was a lot better than the one I did for the tutorial pictures.

I think aslong as you're confident enough doing basic green stuff-ing and using plasticard you can cover up any mess up with the length of the top hull, I think I cut it maybe 3mm too short on this one compared to the original.
