Black Knight
I know it is a moon orbiting a gas giant, but I have no idea what the colour of the ground is, so that I can base my army. Does anyone know what colour the earth on the moon is? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/347909-stygies-viii-colour/ Share on other sites
Ioldanach
Just because Luna is predominantly one color doesn't mean that every moon is a single color. I'd just pick a color that works for you and not worry about whether or not it matches some fictional moon. If you really need to justify your base color, perhaps you should focus on the lore of your army and the ground it is fighting upon (this is generally what I do). Maybe they've been dispatched to a sandy desert area, or a wetland, or an arctic waste, or whatever else works for you. Regardless, unless you only ever play with your army on a single table, the bases aren't likely to match whatever table you're on. The only thing that really matters (if you want it to) is that your army's bases are internally consistent. brother_b
Pick a base color that contrasts. I've used the red/ryza of mars or another forge world. It sets off the dark color of my Stygies VIII scheme. Stray
I've had a look, and there are few details regarding the moons topography :/ This though seems likely: 'The surface of a Forge World is normally completely covered in massive factory complexes that stretch across the horizon. Its ecosystem has been completely destroyed. The air is saturated with toxic gases and rivers flow with toxic runoff from the multitude of manufactoria. In many cases, even seas and oceans have been purposefully evaporated to make room for more manufactoria.' If you want fluffy, probably an urban style base is going to get you closest. frosteldar
That or your could do ash/sand and/or toxic sludge with bits of dirt. Also, you can base them somewhere they are being deployed. For example, my forces have mossy/swamp bases as that is where they are fighting. Anything that will scream 'I am from a world that has been badly abused by industry' would be very fitting. On the other hand don't feel you can't just do whatever you like though. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/347909-stygies-viii-colour/#findComment-5099018 Share on other sites
Black Knight
Thanks for the ideas, it was just something I wanted to think about as I have quite a few Cog bases which colour themselves. The Arquebus bases were bare and I wanted to fill out between the rubble I have added to them.
