Claws and Effect
Pretty much as the title states. I have a 1500 point game coming up this Saturday against the pointy-eared hedonists. Here's the list I'm looking at running. Models yet to finish: The 3 Infernus guys, 1 stalker bolter guy. Swap out mauls for chainswords on 2 bikers and finish the 3rd. I can't change the list much at all because this is basically everything I have painted and ready. Mostly asking for performance analysis and weak points I could shots up with tactics. ++ Battalion Detachment +5CP (Imperium - Deathwatch) [59 PL, 1006pts] ++ + No Force Org Slot + Reference: SIA Weapon Profiles + HQ + Watch Captain [5 PL, 83pts]: Bolt Pistol, Power sword, Storm Bolter, Thief of Secrets Watch Captain [7 PL, 135pts]: Bolt Pistol, Castellan of the Black Vault, Inferno pistol, Jump Pack, Thunder hammer, Warlord + Troops + Veterans [11 PL, 155pts] . Vel'Cona
Looks good to me! You have plenty of speed to keep up with the fast-moving transports/support units so it'll be a matter of eliminating dangerous targets quickly. One issue with DE in general (not specific to your list) is their large dependency on Dedicated Transports, which none of our rules can specifically address, outside of the anti-Aeldari Strategem (which requires the DE player to cooperate). Maximizing your Captain auras will help, here. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/347915-1500-points-vs-drukhari/#findComment-5098959 Share on other sites
Delta.Skies
Just observing, and curious ... are land speeder tempest in the imperial armor section? And how do you feel about throwing a VV in with your stalker unit? I thought about it with my unit but understood that it was situational but with de feel like they would get jammed up because of speeders. BLACK BLŒ FLY
My advice is if he’s running lots of Venoms focusing on killing those first and don’t split up your forces. zero88
Love the list, especially the Speeders, pure DW is the way to go! Anyways, the Infernum Halo launcher is going to be a MUST on your flyer. My biggest concern is the lack of Storm Shields on your weapons squads. DFC squads usually are one hit wonders, but at least try to keep them alive IMO. Going back to the Corvus, might of heros to make it T9 would be another huge boost for it to combine it with the -2 for shooting. Some Kabal of the Black Heart with Lance and Dissie Ravagers, Raider-Gunboats with Kabalite Warriors and Venoms. And he webway'ed 20 Cult of the Cursed Blade Wyches (+1S and the drugs for +1T) with a Succubus. He also had 6 Bikes with a Heatlance and Gravtalons. Since I also play the Dark Kin I know exactly what each unit can do so their speed etc didn't catch me off guard. Some VERY important advice: Think ahead when you place the terrain and objective markers! For example my Stalker Vets are there to just sit in my deployment zone in cover on an objective. So I placed some terrain on the long and short sides and put an objective marker there (and made sure that no LOS blocking terrain was right in their face). I deployed first, put both Dreads in deepstrike. My Plasma + Shotgun Vets cought a ride in the Rhino along with the Watch Captain. My Corvus transported the other big Kill Team and the Watch Master. The Stalker Vets sat on their objective and the Bikers hid behind a LOS blocker on my flank to grab objectives. I got first turn and he failed to seize. I flew the Corvus right up to his lines but far away enough that he wouldn't be able to disembark his troops and surround it (thus denying me to disembark). Put all of the Corvus' dakka into a Lance Ravager, taking it down to 1 remaining wound. The Rhino advanced on my left flank and popped smoke. Bikes took an objective. Stalker Vets stripped about 4 wounds from another Ravager. I used the Hellfire Rounds on the Heavy Bolter. I really like this squad. They very reliably strip a few wounds each turn from vehicles when they use their Kraken/Vengeance rounds. And if I feel like I need to (or have enough CP to spare) they can also dish out 2D3 mortal wounds on vehicles. Very good fire support! On his turn he whiffed with the Heat Lance on his bike against my Rhino. The Corvus got lit up by every lance that could reach him. Thanks to the updated Halo Launcher he survived with 4 remaining wounds. Poison killed a Stalker Vet. My second turn was glorious. By the throne did my Kill Teams purge those Xenos! The Plasma/Shotgun Kill Team destroyed a damaged Ravager, damaged a Raider with shooting and then (I used the "Death to the Xenos" stratagem) they charged and destroyed it in close combat. My other Kill Team killed the Cronos, the Talos and his Arcon's Venom. Thanks to my Storm Shields and the Termi (and me re-rolling failed safes with CP or once with the Warlord Trait) they didn't lose a single dude all game. The Frag Cannons were the bane of his existance! They killed the Bikes, all his characters and the Wracks in overwatch. The Plasma/Shotgun Kill Team got charged by the Wyches and eventually wiped. My Dread dropped down and took out his Dissie Ravager. Turn 3 he conceded. That Corvus Kill Team single handedly broke his moral. Lessons learned: Frag Cannons are worth their weight in gold Deepstriking Dreads are very good The Halo Launcher is very handy against all sorts of Eldar. But it might not be worth it against other armies since Astra Militarum, CSM etc will be shooting their Lascannons from their tanks so that additional -1 to-hit will be wasted. Every Vet that can should take a Chainsword. It makes them surprisingly effective in melee. Stalker Vets make very good backfield fire support. The Corvus Blackstar will die turn 1 (or 2) if you don't have other flyers or tanks that warrant some attention. Claws and Effect
Unfortunately, the Blackstar is already modeled with the Auspex Array, and I play strictly WYSIWYG. I don't like trying to remember which unit has what. When I built it the Halo wasn't nearly as useful. Vel'Cona
A good win, especially in that it shows how "knowing the opposition" is key for a DW commander! You clearly had some inside knowledge about DE and it shows in how you were able to match his units properly with your own and made the most of your target priority.
