Countering Imperial Knights

By now most of the 40k community knows Imperial Knights will be getting their new codex this week. And from what has been released about them, they're looking pretty nasty if done right. I was talking to a buddy of mine, a competitive Deldar player. He's easily one of the strongest players in my local meta, and he was saying that he doesn't think his Deldar would stand a chance against Knights unless he tailored his list hard-core.

As an AdMech and Knight player, I'm more inclined to disagree with him. From what I have seen with your guys' new codex, it looks like it could handle a lot, including Knights. Granted, I haven't played against Deldar yet, so my knowledge is highly limited.

So my question would be to you guys: if you were fighting a pure Imperial Knights list, how would you go about countering them? What would you bring to the fight?

Blasters and Dark Lances. Remember that most Dark Eldar are -1 to hit, they have a stratagem that can cancel one of your stratagems and they have Talos and TONS of fire power. Not to mention the speed of the army which will insure that they hold objectives and cause all sorts of problems for knights.

For melee, go big or go home.  Gonna need Talos/Grotesques for any chance of melee victory, though if they get the charge you're boned.  I think mobility and firepower will be the best bets, and anything that can throw mortal wounds will be lovely for finishing off wounded Knights (especially Armigers); Mandrakes seem like a good choice here.  Knights can still struggle with Supersonic Flyers unless they plan ahead with the Relic Icarus Autocannon or they ally hard, so Razorwing Jetfighters and even the maligned Voidraven can be devastating for quick flybys.

Tactics wise: Everything only has a 1” melee range (or 1” to a friendly unit that is itself within 1” of the enemy). Keep Wracks in front, Talos 1” behind. Knights will only be able to attack Wracks. Talos on the other hand will be able to attack Knights. Wracks soak Knight attacks with their 4++/6+++. Talos hit back. Use Rakath for +1S to get S8 with Scapels.

You should be able to get 3 Talos and a set of Wracks for each Knight.

That said, even with 3 Talos you’re only looking at like 7 damage total a turn - assuming they all survive to make it into cc. So I don’t think it will be easy.

Maybe Razorwings with Lancers?
