antique_nova
How have you converted your models to represent a relics of lost Cadia? Because in the codex the lore entry states, The most meaningful amongst the mdeals and skulls of fallen heroes resonates with energies of defiance and inspires those around them to acts of retribution. The problem I have with that is that skulls and medals are small as peanuts and just unveiling it will do jack all to inspire the troops around them, because he could be inspiring them with the lost tea cup of Cadia. Lol. That being said, I came across this beautiful conversion and decided on what I would do. It makes sense that a flag would be far more inspiring, because it's much more noticeable. However, I won't be doing it like in the attached picture, I will be having my commander hold the flag just like any flag bearer, while holding a chainsword, because apparently there is no such thing as a left hand pistol wielding guardsmen! (I wish there were!) I'm also going to paint the words, Cadia stands! What have you or would you do? Michaelum
You could try making something akin to the Grail Reliquae of Bretonia. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/348035-relic-of-lost-cadia-conversion/#findComment-5102417 Share on other sites

antique_nova
I thought it was the rock he was standing on... Shhhhh. This is not Caliban! The Dark Angels might take you away for uttering such coincidental heresy! N1SB
What a great topic. Thank you for raising this issue. You could try making something akin to the Grail Reliquae of Bretonia. This is a brilliant idea and very sinister. Thank you for sharing this. I thought it was the rock he was standing on... Shhhhh. This is not Caliban! The Dark Angels might take you away for uttering such coincidental heresy! It is so funny you guys mentioned it. The main Cadian player in our meta, whom we call Timperial Guard (his 1st name is Tim), actually has a Tank Commander in a Leman Russ who is usually the relic bearer. I was thinking of suggesting he model his tank to maybe have a piece of Cadian terrain tied to it (he's a history buff, he told me once Soviets tied mattresses to their tanks or something). Problem was it's like the Dark Angels driving around with a piece of Caliban. Great topic, am thinking of this as a modeling project that's small in scope, but huge in narrative opportunities. Regarding the flag, I absolutely agree, but with more wear & tear, weathering, bullet holes, etc. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/348035-relic-of-lost-cadia-conversion/#findComment-5102662 Share on other sites

MosesGunn
To be fair, the mattresses were to ward off RPGs via the springs Now I've got an image of this happening like a Looney Tunes cartoon where the rocket rebounds back and an unfortunate Wehrmacht soldier holds up a sign saying Uh Oh Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/348035-relic-of-lost-cadia-conversion/#findComment-5102913 Share on other sites
Ahistorian
The idea is to have the charge go off away from the tank's actual armour, decreasing its lethality. It's the same principle as the anti-RPG bar and net sidings on ISAF vehicles. EDIT: I believe Warlord Games sell mattress springs to add to your tanks. It might be Battlefront in 15mm though.
