Quest for Thunderstrike Gauntlets

Recommended Posts

With the new codex out I find that I’m wanting more gallants in my armies. Honestly, I want to give 3 a chance. This means I need 1-2 more thunderstrike gauntlets, which seem hard to come by on eBay. Anybody have a good idea where to get a couple of these? I’m also fine with alternatives or shapeways, etc.

There are bits shops that have them, but those prices are crazy imho. 16-17$ for a gauntlet is way too much. I struck a bargain with a guy from the club, he gave me his spare gauntlet, because I gave him a ride home after a tourney almost two years ago :happy.:

Good Karma!  Always pays to be a good person. :)

I'm only familiar with Shapeways and eBay for possible sources, unless you were up for modifying your own bits.  You could also take bits from Gundum/Tau/Toys, etc, depending on how much customization you want. Or, if you want to get really unique, you could use claws from Tyranids or other monsters, stating it is a relic taken from a monster hunt on their home planet or other world and turned into a fist.

This got me thinking.

If your going Gundam I suggest just about anything in the 1/100 line as for shapeways, Blue Prints has part for the Stormsurge (Stormwave in his shop) that could work, but your paying a premium for it. However for posablity it's second to none.

Hand and forearm parts.

I'll double check these tonight and post a comparison tomorrow since I have the parts (of the forearm at least)

How about scavenging some bits from something like a defiler? Their fists are at least somewhere near the right size.

Yeah, it's chaos, but it can be cleansed of spikes and stuff like that...

Hilariously, one of my knights has a defiler fist because the Knight Errant has a fist back in the day so I wanted mine to have one too. This was before the gallant kit existed (I’ve played 40k knights from literally day 1) so I got creative. Might have to again.

I wonder is any contemptor bits might work?

This thread has a few conversions for fists - from before GW released the thunderstrike gauntlet. One uses a couple of plastic spoons for the basic shape.
