Kriegs Death Guards

...again.

Been a while since I've worked on anything 40k related. I've worked on projects over the years that eventually go nowhere as well as moving on to a different game system for the past few years.  So with returning to 40k I decided to go by the saying "go big or go home".

While reading the background for Death Guard who knows how many times I figured they would be cool to work on. Bought Mortarion and the Lord Felthius easy to build kits today. The two paint pots on Mortarions box is Balthazar Gold and Nurgle Rot. Hoping this will be a start to an army that i'll eventually play.

Thanks Azekai I'm hoping this will be the start of something big for me for 40k. *fingers crossed*

Everything is put together now. I followed Duncan from WarhammerTV and left the wings and smoke off to paint seperate and not get in the way. Both kits were fun to put together and I like the look save for one which is a minor thing(but funny to me!).

When I first saw Lord Felthius on the GW site there was something about his face that was annoying me and actually made me want to punch him. I couldn't put my finger on it even after buying the kit and putting him together. Then I was looking through CMDR_Welles thread and saw Felthius at a different angle with his face painted more green(unless my eyes are failing me) and it hit me. He was reminding me of Slimer from the Ghostbusters cartoons with his smile and well overall look. I said out loud "No wonder I want to punch him in the face!!".

Anyways here's a pic of them which i'm sure everyone has seen before. Mostly just to motivate me to keep going. lol

Finished painting Lord Felthius. I'm at the point I like where he is at so I'll leave him be. I'll work on the base once the other three guys are finished and do them all together. Horns aren't my favorite to paint but I ended up happy with how it turned out.

First time using Nurgle Rot and I really liked how it turned out. Used it on the slime areas as well as the pock marks on his armour and his eyes. When looking at the picture I was being reminded of the Slime Pit* set from He-Man which I had and was awesome.

*On a side note with this and the Slimer reference in my last post I find it funny that Death Guard are reminding me of the 80s.

Thanks Azekai appreciate it.

Never thought of the Dead Men of Dunharrow when I was painting him but that's cool. I wanted to paint the skin different from the pale look GW has. The flash might be causing the ethereal effect as well since i'm using my camera phone and this was the best i could get. :)

Working on the armour on his Cohort now. :)
