Waaaagghhhh!!!!!!!

Right, this is my thread for my Adventures with my Orks!

My Backstory:

Back in 1997 I received got the 2nd edition box and started an Ork and space marine army’s, though then in 1997 I got my hands on the GORKAMORKA box set. It was from this game that my Ork collection took off!

Orks were my Primary army though the whole of 3rd Edition, with my Cult of Speed fighting ‘proudly’ in the 3rd war of Armageddon. After close to a decade of playing in 2004, with the advent of 4th edition I stopped playing. From the starter games in the 2nd war for Armageddon to the small mob fights of Gorkamorka before returning to the Epic battles of Armageddon my forces were neatly always led by the same Ork Boss ‘Morfang’. Well When I returned to the hobby in 2010 I decided that I did not want to rebuild my Ork army, though I would frequently find myself playing around with ‘what ifs’ and planning it out. But I never pulled the trigger.

Since the start of 8th edition I wasn’t happy with any of my armies, I wasn’t having fun painting them. And I wasn’t getting many games in, so I was falling behind on conversations about ‘meta’ (Mostly as I was playing a pile of AOS, but that’s for another site). And then in the last 4 months I haven’t painted a single model and wanted something to focus my creativity on! So after organizing all my bits and starting to sell parts of my collection I no longer want, I decided that it’s time to rebuild my Ork Army.

Going Froward:

I have decided that I will not be rebuilding a Cult of Speed, though it will be a heavily mechanized forced… Ork Vehicles are the best part of the army in my view! But I have few plans at the moment just going to build and paint things based on my whim and not to any grand plan!

Story wise, the collection will represent the Warboss Morfangs attempt to get involved with the war between the Imperial forces, fighting against the Daemon Warsmith Uverons black crusade: aka my other two collections, allowing me to have a unified basing system, and the ability to make dioramas for armies on parade without much issue! And also explains were the Orks are getting the parts I am ‘looting’ from my bits box!

The first unit!

Well I have a few orders in the post at the moment, and you will see updates about them soon. But for now we have my first unit!

Looted Sentinels / Killer Kans

Starting with two very old Sentinels that have been stripped of paint, and a 3rd kit that I picked up for my R&H army I was building a few years ago and a number of bits from my bits boxes I have built a trio of Killer Kans with Rockkit Launchas!

In the next few days I have an order of Ork bits arriving so I will be able to add Ork glifs and Klaws to the models. Until then CC is welcome!

Oi! Those sentinels look proppa' killy. I'm looking forward to seeing more.

Thanks!

Updates will be sporadic for next few weeks as new units show up. I am mostly focusing on selling old models (Striping and cleaning where needed) and breaking other kits down for the scrap pile.

Iam trying to decided on a Paint Scheme for the Army out of these 4 options. (Though all will have more fine detail than the painter allows)

gallery_63905_14685_31999.jpg

This was the 3rd edd palette I worked with. It was fun and simple. But I may have grown past that now and could do something better.

gallery_63905_14685_22731.jpg

Classic Goff: Could be fun, though Blacks are odd to paint at times.

gallery_63905_14685_12171.jpg

A 'Clean' basic template to allow me to go to town on fine details and indervidual personality.

gallery_63905_14685_21113.jpg

A 'Death Skull' Inspired situation, with lots of Rust on metallics...

I think Iam leaning for option 2... but option 1 calls to me.

Nice looking orky sentinels!

Thanks! They will be better when I add Claws to them!

Option one is good. Option all of them is better!

I want to try and stick to one single pallet so there is a visual unity to the army. I know its not 'Fluffy' but it is artistically better, which is a compromise Iam willing to make!

Big Tracks / Looted Tanks!

So Last night I sat down with my bits box, and from random bits in it I was able to build two Looted Tanks. I plan on running them as Big Tracks, one with a Supper Cannon (The battle Tank), and the other with a Supper Lobber (the Flatbed). Both these tanks still need some crew, and some ork parts that I have ordered from a bits store. But with some luck I may get to start painting them in next 2 weeks!

I totally understand that! I was thinking , if your like me, you'd need a color change after you pain lots all in the same colors. haha.

I may only have 40 boyz in my collection in total with my current plans! So I should be able to keep away from boredom

COMPLETED KILLER KANS!

This afternoon the bits I ordered for my Looted Sentinels / Killer Kans arrived. And I spent a evening working like true Mek trying to get them finished before my next delivery arrives tomorrow. Each Kan now has some Orkish bodywork, an Klaw and other Gubins. CC is welcome!

Those Killa Kans are inspired. I like how the saw arms unbalance the model. It makes them look like they would lurch awkwardly around with their balance off-centre. It adds a great deal of character to the models and looks properly Orky. I also think it's great that it's not just a Sentinel with Ork bits stuck on, you've completely stripped and replaced large parts of the model and it looks all the better for it. I think the one with the box rocket launchers that is my favourite. Nice job.

I like where this thread is going.

Your killa kans look much better Ork'd up a bit more.

Your tanks are coming along nicely. Love Ork tanks.

Thanks! I Agree Ork Tanks are one of the best things about the Orks. Its is also from spending over a year working on a number of Oil rigs around the USA that have made me see first hand examples of finest Ork Technology and given me inspiration for how I wasnt to build the Mechanised parts of the collection.

Thanks! Getting the Unbalanced look was something I took quite a bit of time pondering. I initially was going to have them all with the arms in the same spot, but mixing it up makes the Kans look more individual. Also the Rokkits were added in a way to keep them unbalanced as well!

And  as for the construction, all 3 of the Sentinels were in bits when I started (Though two of them were from a decade ago back when the Catchans were first released, they have since been stripped and parts losts!) But just having everything in bits  with many of the ork parts and then not following the assembly instructions had them together in a very Orky way.

The Roks Arrive!

This morning when I work up I had a pile of stuff in the mail! One Box is some

The Small box was a miniature sent to me by a friend, the medium sized on a fathers day gift, the big one a present to myself after selling some 'Scrap'

Greetings,

I had a great weekend putting together models from Fridays parcels, did a lot of work on a number of different projects. So going to cover them in brief. The Stompa will have a much longer post in my WIP thread Shortly.

Looted Tank with Crew!

First up the Looted Leamon Russ now has a Commander, taken from the stompa kit the very cunning ork now sits in the turret issuing commands. I may also add another Big shooter resting in front of him as well I am sure when all the Gunz are firing he will want to join in.

Grots!

Well first up I got myself a box of 10 grots this weekend. With some of the spare grot heads and hands from the Stompa kit I put together these fine fellows!

gallery_63905_14685_47812.jpg

Warboss!

I was chatting to a mate at a gaming store, about my attempts to build an ork army. And we had chat about what I was planning for the Actual model of Boss Morfang Skragga! Now I have a plan, and going to keep it close to my chest for a bit as I locate all the needed bits. But realizing I needed a HQ unit before then my mate gave me a battle for Vedros Warboss he had spare. With a few bits from the Nobs Kit I have a model I like for the ‘Under-Boss’ ‘Grimgob’.

Painboy.

Though together the Painboy from the start collecting box, He like the mekboy isn’t converted yet. Going to wait till after the rest of the models are together before getting to work on ‘kustomising’ them.

Ammo Runt.

Pulled from the Stompa Kit, this Got is getting a promotion to Ammo Runt. Not sure which unit will end up with him. But it’s going to be good to have around.

gallery_63905_14685_580606.jpg

Stompa Grots.

These gots will be crew on the Stompa and may be one of of the Looted Tanks. Going to paint them sepretly and find them a home eventually.

gallery_63905_14685_100642.jpg

This then brings me to the Stompa! As I said at the top of this post, Iam working on an update that will go into details about my thinking behind each conversion and that will appear on my WIP thread. But for how this thread gets some highlights.

Your tank commander Looted Leman Russ looks brilliant, loving all the dakka.

Liking all the tweaks your doing to the stomps too. Is that a gaze of Mork you’ve got going on?

Thanks! Yes it is a gaze of mork. Covering bases if I want to run as Kustom Stompa. I have a full list of my conversions in my thread on the WIP section of site. If you look for the link a few posts back.

Stompa Update!

Spent evening working on some green stuff for the model. Added in the 'fabric' coverings to the gun ports, and added some Orkoid Funguses to parts model, I plan on adding dirt around these points which these funguses will be growing in..

The Fungs colonies are a really interesting idea. That will make it the grimiest Stompa I've ever seen. This is shaping up to be awesome.

Well I live on a Oil Rig, and my thinking is that Orks are even less 'Hygienic' that roughnecks, and Given the Stompa is the walking home base of my Ork army... Its going to be quite a mess Though mostly on the platforms at the back of the Stompa, I have dreams of adding a piles of trash (Like empty botels of fungus beer) to the back, but still trying to come up with a good way to do that.

Simplly put,  Orks Live for war, so their warmachines are where they live.
