Kangaaxx
I have done some test with lord of contagion lately and they are not bad as they seem. One lord of contagion alone for 117pts that deepstrike to put pressure somewhere in the map or to charge behind ruin will requires a lot of firepower T2 and attention to deal with. I have checked the stats and for the same resilience as 3 blightlords ( 135pts) you have a lord of contagion at 117pts. If you deepstrike 3 of them in a Supreme detachment batallion right behind 30 plaguebears they all have a inbuilt cloud of flies with their character rules and put a lot of pressure. For 351 pts you got 18hp 2+4++5+++ screened. They have also some nice synergy for death guard units with gift of contagion for maybe daemon princes, or drones, or cc plague marines. You can even add 3 deathshroud to the mix for the +1 attack ( fun but maybe to huge point sink). Have someone tested something similar? Panzer
Please don't copy&paste from sources with their own formatting system. The forum can't translate it properly. Notepad and similar basic text editors should be fine tho. Alternatively you can click the button on the top right of the reply window where the tooltip says "BBCode Mode" and then copy&paste it here since in that mode it won't add any formatting informations from other sources. Back to the topic: It can work but most of the time they probably still just die and you wasted quite a few points. Mortarion struggles to survive turn 1 in competetive matches and even in my semi-competetive matches I managed more than once to obliterate a unit of Blightlords the turn they arrived without too much efford to actually affect the outcome of the match. If not destroyed many armies also have the option to simply walk away since the Lord of Contagion is slow as hell and has no real ranged pressure. Plus there's the beta rule about no deep strike outside of your own deployment zone turn 1 looming above our heads. I'm sure it won't get implemented the way the beta rule is worded but something similar is to be expected. Of course your local meta is different than mine so just go ahead and try it out for yourself. If it works then you have a cool strategy for your army but don't be too surprised if it doesn't work out. ^^ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/348178-lord-of-contagion-spam/#findComment-5105495 Share on other sites
