SnakeChisler
I don't think air power is the key there all very expensive and while guard artillery is annoying the one thing Deathwatch are very good at is killing troops and adding stuff like aggressors to squads means you can run / shoot normally. We've also have cheapish bikes for what they can do and with the wide bases can snag extra tanks on the pile in shutting down even more return fire. Get creative with your bike charge placement those new terrain rules and stick out sponsors means with clever placement the tank can't move. There are things we can do such as the leviathan but the core thing is get stuck in and bleed the screening units dry make your early rounds really count as an elite force attrition is not our game. Aothaine
I use an allied Scorpius with a Land Speeders Tempest. Datalink Telemetry is a solid Strategem with those two units. The word Whirlwind in Datalink Telemetry strategem is not bolded, so it doesn't refer to the keyword <Whirlwind> and only the regular Whirlwind. I remember people posting having asked FW and them saying it does not affect variants. I understand that flyers are a good way to deal with first turn positioning. But I am wondering why people have dismissed Whirlwinds so quickly. These things are quite good and offer some very valuable no LOS firepower. BLACK BLΠFLY
Whirlwinds and TFC are both quite good. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/348239-how-do-you-handle-artillery/page/2/#findComment-5110214 Share on other sites
Moostick
We only have access to the FW variants as DW, and they're pretty good. I think the issue with regular Whirlwinds and the Hyperion is the -1 to hit on land units, plus a random number of already low threshold shots. Scorpius is the only one that doesn't suffer from -1 against non-fly, but it's only S6, so against most vehicles it's average at best.
