Household retainers - model choices

Recommended Posts

Awight,

More thoughts from myself, inspired by the decision making I'm going through at the moment of selling off my painted knights to go for a different household/colour scheme.

With regards to making our guard batteries fit aesthetically with our knights, what households go with which models?

So for example I love the idea of house hawkshroud knights on a crusade with a pilgrimage of commoners, using the upcoming cawdor models for the ragtag rabble of the Imperium.

Whilst for house Terryn you might go for a more pious model set, with trumpets, banners etc etc.

So with that in mind, what conversions/theme could folks suggest for each household?

It really depends a lot on how big and how in depth you wanna go. But I would say for any Questoris Imperialis house getting some Tempestus Scions bits should mix in quite well. The trim on their armor can match the one on your knights and armiger, and if you get a pilot model or two from the future Canis Rex kit, that should really cement the link.

But like I said really depends on what you do with the greater force in general. Maybe just limit those pieces to more important officer types if you're doing a more peasant mob type of entourage.

I see myself making a 'peacekeeping force' or a 'policing force' (Noble wouldn't be caught dead acknowledging them as part of the real fighting force) of some actually well equipped and highly trained troops, so Tempestus makes sense both to me in rules and look. Change their banner to be one proudly displaying the Terryn household insignia instead of the scion one. Hadn't really thought it through much beyond this.

The talk of more banners, trumpets and more pompous nonsense actually sounds really fun :)

I'm going the Questor Mechanicus route with Tech Thralls as guardsmen and Titan Princeps as company commanders. I like the models, and they are distinct enough to be distinguishable from the Skitarii clans while fitting in with them as a part of a cohesive whole.
