DW redemptor dreads thoughts?

Hi,

what do you think about DW redemptor dreads?

i think it has and edge over the regular vanilla version bc dual storm bolters with SIA,

throwing 8 rapid fire bolter rounds with SIA makes Redemptor dread quite appealing

also they can be teleported to battlefield fixing the dreadnought short threat range.

thoughts?

They do manage to benefit from mission tactics, which is a nice benefit to have, and can be hit with the +1 to wound stratagem.

But just like normal Redemptor's, they degrade quickly, and movement hinders their accuracy. Since they're mostly pretty good at the things DW kill teams are good at, they seem less interesting.

I use 2 redemptors with a watch master and they always reap a heavy toll on my enemy, in maximum Dakka mode they regularly chew up close to a hundred infantry between them (allot of nid players) not to mention combat when something thinks its going to be an easy fight.

It's a bit lackluster. I have 2 because I like the models. They're good anti-personal tools, but the problem is that with DW you have heaps of AP already and we lack AT. The Redemptor is a good AT weapon if it can get in CC, but getting there is iffy. You can put it in the Teleportarium, but 9 inch is tough to make. With assistence of a Libby with Veil you can have a decent chance, but it's not as reliable as a Ven Dread with TLLC/ML.

I'd rather convert one and play it as a Leviathan because the model looks impressive.

Actually, I might do that. My local gaming group is pretty relaxed in general. If the model represents the rules clear enough there's no reason not to play it as whatever. For tourneys it's different probably, but then I've never entered a 40k tourney (well local ones), so it's no big deal for me.

So Leviathan, Storm cannons right?

For the points you pay its honestly still a good choice, just hard when it is anti infantry at range, it's not something we are lacking.

In regards to the conversion however, I think grav flux bombard is the better weapon choice, mashes armour.

The redemptor is good for what the rest of the army is already good at - mulching through infantry. The other dreadnought options bring better anti-tank, which is what we really lack.
