Thinking of trying a custodian guard heavy list, all on foot with Guilliman, -1 to hit banners and shield captains... Are larger units effective, say 6 or so? Cheers! MARK0SIAN Posted June 24, 2018 Share Posted June 24, 2018 The problem is that the shield captains will already give you the reroll 1s to hit so the only benefit you’re getting from RG are the cp for having him as your warlord and his combat performance. I don’t think that is worth his cost. RG is now overcosted anyway but he only begins to be worth his points when he’s supporting an army that really benefits from his buffs like an ultramarines gunline army. As for large units, they are very effective in certain situations but you risk them not being able to cover a large enough area of the board compared to 2 X 3 man squads. Generally I don’t take Custodes in anything more than a 5 man squad. Prot Posted July 2, 2018 Share Posted July 2, 2018 Background wise, nothing stops you from fielding this. Performance wise, Ultras can be a good fit... Guilliman not so much. If you can fill in some good shooty stuff, and perhaps Psykers I think you’d be better off.
