Armiger and Dominus Knights getting 30k Rules and New Upgrad

Straight from WHC, Knight fans don't have to wait long for 30k rules for our new plastics.

Plus FW are doing some upgrades for esoteric weapons (looks like a mini Styrix! CHOOM!)

And here I was holding off on the new Knights, because I wasn't certain they'd get 30k rules... Touché, Forge World.

This feels like a very positive change for the future of 30k, too. I love the idea of not waiting 2-3 black books until they can finally squeeze in rules for 40k units that should definitely have rules equivalents in the Heresy. I suppose we're still waiting for Skitarii and AdMech, but I hope this trend continues.

I think it just goes to show how married up the companies are now.

Sure we don't have Skitarii rules but we did get Secutarii (albeit a fair while later)

Now though Armigers are out and the upgrades are being concepted with previews coming at the FW open day, meaning 3 months away or less.

Yeah, very happy about this. I too was holding off because 30k is my hobby home and I can't afford frivolous purchases at the moment. I don't know what it is about Knights but I just can't ignore them and my resolve was weakening. I'm not completely sure why though, because I don't like the Dominus, and while I like the idea of the Armigers, they just look a bit off to me. However... That concept is gorgeous and if they release something that looks mostly like that I'll buy six.

How timely, considering I just bought the Mechanicum part of Forgebane from my FLGS. I picked it up because I wanted the armigers for my narrative 30K hobby project, even if I wouldn't be able to use them. I am actually modifying the melta weapon fron one of them to an autocannon/harpoon launcher, but knowing I will be able to use them with a bit of "count as" is great news!

And choom for the Omnissiah!

Oh boy, oh boy...

Well, that amiger has a small Hekaton siege-claw with a rad-cleanser and a slightly up-scaled Mars/Omega-Pattern Volkite Culverin, from the scale of the Amiger it looks to be about 50-60% heftier than the Contemptor twl volkite culverin so its definitely a new statline. (heavy culverin maybe?)

I think it just goes to show how married up the companies are now.

Well, it's the same company and always has been. It perhaps suggests that one division's release schedule is increasingly subordinate to another's, which may be a mixed blessing.

Will they be superheavies? What do you guys think? Pretty small for that if ya ask me.

And what about the statline?

Will we see another armour 13 walker?

Could someone extrapolate based on his/her experience with the Arminger in 8th how they might look in 30k?

Probs AV13 6HP Walker, 1-3 Lord of War unit ( probs Troop for knight Household (or rank applicable to entire unit) to make them even more stupidgood as people pile into taking min units of -35pt Armigers.

Thanks for your ideas.

I came to wonder if the gonna make that thing as fast as in 8th.

They should be considerably weaker than regular Knights in my humble opinion.

Highest AV 12.

4 Hullpoints.

Warglaives probably only available as Scion Martial and Scion Aspirant. Probably 2-3 per slot.

Helverins only available as Scion Uhlan and Scion Martial. Also 2-3 per slot (if at all).

Helverin's improved autocannons STR 8, AP 3, Hvy. 3 or something like that.

No idea about the Thermal Lance, it should be weaker than a Thermal Cannon but slightly stronger than a mere Multi-Melta of course.

Just my $ 0.02

They'll probably just directly translate the 8E profile of some of these things. So the Thermal Lance on the Warglaive is probably just 30" S8 AP1 w/ a 3" blast and Melta.

I'm way more interested in seeing the Valiant's harpoon translated over to AoD  If I can't drag enemy vehicles around I'll be really disappointed!

I didn't expect it to be so soon, but this is awesome news. I've already done some designs for new 30k-era variants of the Armiger and Dominus chassis, so this'll be really useful for adjusting the rulesets for consistency (plus I get to see how close I got to the mark :happy.: )

Would nt they be fast attack for a knight household?

They are smaller and more nimble, the knights could be using the mind control function to send them out ahead to scout before the knights charge in.

That's a cool idea - the Armiger rules I've trialled put them as a non-compulsory Troops slot that can never outnumber 'true' Knight units, but I'm really interested to see how they fit around the Knight list. I doubt they'll get the Household Rank rule, but maybe there'll be some kind option to vary their battlefield role / deployment / stats?

I havent read the 40k knights codex yet. But from the designers video, the armigers have a helm mechanicum not a full throne.

While the armigers can operate independently the helms can be slaved to a knights throne mechanicum. Thus the knight can ensure the armigers obey without question. Oftentimes the armigers think the commands given to them are their own idea.

He also compared the armigers to being the hounds in a knights hunting party, used to harry the quarry and keep them at bay ready for the knight to despatch them.
