Trollbeard
Hey guys, I’m hosting a small 1000 point highlander style tourney, meaning only one of each dataslate, except troops are exempt. I’ve written a few lists, but I’m struggling a little with trying to fit enough in my list to cover the bases. Wondering what some of your thoughts would Be about possible lists, I was thinking of running 2 fortis Kill Teams and one veteran team. Any tips and pointers for this would be awesome! seriade
take something big that is hard to kill. If you have a leviathan or something like that would be effective as anti high toughness weapons will be at a premium. Moostick
How serious is this tournament? Taking a big thing in a 1k point will be frowned upon if it's a friendly one. I think a battalion and a TLLC/ML dreadnought would be pretty decent for 1k. If you don't kit out the 3 troops to the teeth, you can probably fit a biker or barebone Vet unit as well. Trollbeard
The tournament is just a beer and pretzel affair, it’s just all my buddies who I play warhammer with. That said, I do want to crush them, I have a list made of my chaos demons, but have been leaning towards deathwatch, just not sure how yet. My opponents will be, DA, tau, and most likely dark eldar,(my buddy has every flavour of eldar, so could be any of them). Was thinking of a max squad of intercessors combat squadded into two back field objective holders, maybe a cheap captain with a stalker bolters for retools and a TLLC/ML dread in the back field? I dunno yet, I’ve only played one game with deathwatch and it was at 2k. vigitant
Storm Cannonx2 Leviathan, Librarian, Watchmaster, 1x msu helblaster, 1x FW Rapier. If you have enough points left, either IG battalion/patrol or inquisition acolytes + inquisitor. Difficult to chew through T9 with a 4++. But its not super friendly.Showcasing Deathwatch, a battalion with intergressor KT, MSU intercessor, watchmaster for backfield, deepstrike jump captain and helblaster kt.Gives you mobile T5 dakka midfield, Intercessors for back/midfield objective holding, and helblaster KT and TH jump captain to solve problems. You get AT options without have to dedicate much, between jump captain, helblasters, mortal wound strats on the hq guns and clavis. Alternatively, if you want to not have friends anymore, take a gallant, armiger, helliger, and a CP battery IG battalion. 11cp, 9 after you give the gallant a 4++(1cp: 3++ if your enemy fires at it!) and a relic fist. Drizzt79
I would take a vendread TLLasC/ML backfield (165pts), 3 kill teams (tot max 500pts), bikers for mobility (91pts), watchmaster and a jp captain for hq Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/348531-1000p-highlander-tournament/#findComment-5113761 Share on other sites
