anarchistscourge
Hi All, As the title says, looking for suggestions on a basing scheme for Deathwatch. I painted up 5 and did an urban look using astrogranite but the marines blend too much with the bases. I have Crimson Fists based on desert bases which I am tempted to do but unsure. Anyone have any suggestions that dont involve a martian scheme or any of the GW sculpted bases (cant be bothered to remove marines from bases) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/348569-ideas-for-deathwatch-basing-scheme/ Share on other sites
Vel'Cona
A desert-style base with Armageddon Dunes or suchlike? The dusky yellow would be a good contrast with black armour, and weathering is easy too (just drybrush a similar yellow where you want stuff to look dusty). Gederas
For my Inq28/Truescale Deathwatch, I'm going with the Industrial Bases. The dull/rusty metal will contrast with the black armour quite well imo However, you don't want sculpted bases  In this case, I'd recommend something that contrasts with their armour, or compliments it. Bright deserty-yellow or a dark muddy base. Hell, a snowy base could look awesome with the Deathwatch. ashc
I'm doing industrial too, I'm a big fan of those necromunda and sector mechanicum bases. Lemondish
I would say you should go with a rocky snow base. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/348569-ideas-for-deathwatch-basing-scheme/#findComment-5114907 Share on other sites
anarchistscourge
I was thinking of maybe just sticking with the astrogranite and putting some snow on would be very striking. Think I may go with the same base as my CF do arid ground with some grass tufts Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/348569-ideas-for-deathwatch-basing-scheme/#findComment-5115000 Share on other sites
SwashBuccaneer
I was thinking of maybe just sticking with the astrogranite and putting some snow on would be very striking. Think I may go with the same base as my CF do arid ground with some grass tufts This is what I've done. Some Astrogranite and Astrogranite Debris with some agrax shading and the dry brushed some and then some Valhallan Blizzard with some light grass tufts. There's some pictures of it under my gallery here or in the Outpost sticky here for the painting event. Not the fanciest basing in the world but seems to make the guys pop really well. I think the base I used in this Tzeentchian Chaos Warrior I did would look cool as well. https://i.imgur.com/b39UNcf.jpg https://i.imgur.com/mZwO6Kj.jpg https://i.imgur.com/4cdyTqv.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/348569-ideas-for-deathwatch-basing-scheme/#findComment-5115106 Share on other sites
hammer grimblood
I’m doing a swamp/jungle theme. Use the GW texture paint and mold some random spots for liquid resin then use your choice of foliage. I’m using grass tufts, plastic aquarium decor and might pick up some of the vine base materials. Andromonoid
I am gonna have different places for some. Like how you can see how some have fought the eldar in the jungle, how some other have fought in the snow, how some fought in desert. And loads of alien skulls, weapons, armor or artifacts here and there. Putting my contemptor on an eldar wraithlord base to show it is assaulting the eldar. I was debating something like that as well but still have unifying colors or something to still blend the bases in together.
