Lord Kallozar
I know that fluff states that the chaos gods are fickle, but it also states that nurgle, above other gods, actually has a caring side and will reward a loyal and deserving servant. So how fickle is Nurgle? For example would nurgle use a being for a task then instead of rewarding that being upon completion of that task he would then kill the poor being off? Panzer
Considering that task would most likely be spreading some disease he could decide to not gift him with the semi-immunity to that particular disease others get (none of them are really immune to it but they can keep functioning while being infected). So upon fulfilling his task he could simply end up suffering miserably until he dies like anybody else. In Nurgles eyes it wouldn't be him being "fickle". Diseases are just another form of life and getting consumed by it is nothing to be sad/mad/angry about. ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/348655-how-fickle-actually-is-nurgle/#findComment-5116960 Share on other sites
Teetengee
To be fair though, Nurgle is also the opponent to Tzeentch (Change) in the grand game of the chaos gods, so of all the gods, is likely least fickle. Kinstryfe
Considering this involves psychoanalyzing the motivations of a godlike being made up of the sum totals of emotions of multiple sentient species, the best I can come up with is that Grandfather Nurgle, as he's been described, wouldn't use a follower and then kill them. However, that's only because dying of one of his blessings isn't killing him, it's simply blessing him with the joy of experiencing the gift to the fullest. Letting a worshipper spread a lovely new disease to a planet, watch as it takes hold and brings all life to an end, and then being the final being on the planet brought to beautiful equilibrium as they die is, quite likely, considered by Nurgle to be a beautiful and highly spiritual gift for the follower. Lord Kallozar
Thanks guys. So even turning a follower into a blubbering useless tangle of diseased flesh and tentacles could be a suitably beautiful “reward”?
