The Forge of Khorne - All Things dedicated to the Bloodgod

Recommended Posts

Welcome to the Forge! Let's light the fires and get started!!

After quite a long break from my power-armoured traitor legion ( I've been fighting for the greater good), I've now decided to put my focus back on all things dedicated to the Bloodgod. This includes World Eaters, Khorne Demons, Renegade Militia, Dark Mechanicum and at the far far away end a Titan Legion.

My plan is to get as much as possible built into subassemblies, and then step by step slap paint on the models. Basically an assembly line style.

Right now on my workbench I got

Demons

1 GW Bloodthirster

1 Skarbrand

1 Creature Caster Wardemon

1 Creature Caster King of War

1 Blood Throne

12 Bloodcrushers

30 Bloodletters

30 Flesh Hounds (Puppetswar Bhargeist Fiends)

World Eaters:

5 Wrathmongers (counts as Chaos Spawns)

20 Blood Reavers (Cultists)

5 Gal Vorbak Possessed (Possessed)

Zardu Layak and Blade Slaves (Possessed Champion with Bodyguard)

10 Terminators with Kombibolters and Chainfist/Powerfist

1 FW Lord Zhufor

10 Terminators with Kombibolters and Power Weapons

1 FW Heresy Librarian

1 GW Khârn the Betrayer

1 FW Khârn the Betrayer

1FW Angron

2 FW Chaos World Eaters Dreadnoughts

1 FW Leviathan Dreadnought

2 “The Dark Works” Weapon Platforms (I need more of those! They are so awesome)

30 Khorne Berzerkers

The Demons will mostly be standard assemblies, only minor conversions on the Bloodthirster (magnetizing) and some head swaps on the juggernaughts.

My World Eaters will be a mix and match of bits. The Cultists and “Chaos Spawns” will be fairly straight builds, while the Terminators are including the FW Upgrade kit. Most work will go into the Khorne Berzerkers. I’ve seen a really cool converted Army on facebook that used the combination of AoS Blood Warriors and plastic MK3 Space Marines.

As pictures can say more than 1000 words, I think I shall stop talking and let the WIP images talk for themselves…

This is my Bloodthirster. I really love this model. Even though I wasn’t playing Demons at the time, I instantly had to buy the kit. I’m not a 100% happy with the bigger axe, as the plasticard tube lacks texture. Eventually I might redo it and use a smaller tube with wire wrapped around it to make it look more interesting. Or should I leave it and paint a nice black weapon handle? What do you think? Regarding his 2 different Lash weapons I still have another leather whip left over, on which I will glue the hammer head. As the whip itself sits nice and snug on the handle there is no glue or magnet required, and this makes it easier for transportation. Other than that this bad boy needs his gaps filled and he is ready for primer.

Skarbrand… This is a love/hate relationship. His assembly was a pain in the neck. And all those nasty gaps. This guy requires a whole lot of gap filling. If he weren’t so awesome on the table and good looking I’d seriously ditch this model. The base has been painted as I felt the urge to try out the Idea I had in my mind. My intention was an Armageddon/Cityfight ruin style base. Combined with some pigments for variation I got it to look pretty much like the Idea I had in mind.

So, thank you for reading until here, and if you feel like it, leave a comment or some criticism, both are welcome! Time for me to get back to the hobby bench!

Nice deamons! Stupid suggestion: get the skull set, drill holes through a bunch of them and thread them into a rod for a stupidly khornate axe shaft.

Slightly less tacky suggestion: find a suitable twig, cover in glue to harden it up, wrap some strips of semicured green stuff around for leahter handles.

That's one hell of a backlog to work through! What colours are you thinking for your force, the classic brass and red or something different?

Yeah, going to be a lot of work to crunch through all that... But it will be loads of fun (I hope:wink: ). Regarding the paintscheme, I'm going to stick with red and brass, bringing in some variation with silver chainmail, brown or bone coloured leather. I'm not quite sure I want to add battle damage and rust, as I think it could make many of the models (especially the World Eaters) way to busy.

I like the Idea of using a little twig or branch for the axe haft... Might have to dig into that and try it out. Thanks for the Idea!

Thanks for the compliment on the bases... Bases are kind of my thing. A lot of people tell me i go over the top with them, but I like to build bases that can convey a story, a scene or a situation. In my eyes it has to complement the miniature. This adds a lot of character and depth to the model. Plus, with doing this style of base I get a lot of variation throughout my army, as no 2 bases are the same.

No pitcures this time as I'm just chipping away at clipping bits from sprues and sorting them into bags, while I'm waiting for the fresh green stuff on scarbrand to set and harden. Like I said before this demon really is straining my patience with all the work. But, I think it will be worth it in the End!

Thanks for the positive feedback! Especially coming from you. I only found your WIP Thread yesterday to drool over. SOOO much cool stuff!

I started to scrape and sand the mould lines of the Wrathmongers off and instantly had the urge to build this model and an appropriate base. Maybe I will finish all 5 of them and even start painting them first. This kit is just so awesome... So here's a little WIP preview of my first "counts-as Chaos Spawn".

These guys mean serious business! Due to the angle of the rock I was able to shift the dynamic of the miniature.

Let me know what you think:biggrin.:

Agreed with the comments about that spawn, but I’m loving this thread! Awesome work!

Thanks for the compliments! Always nice to see other people liking my crazy ideas:rolleyes:

The Chaos Spawn is leaning forwards at an EXTREME angle. Are you a Michael Jackson fan? (Watch the 'Smooth Criminal' music video.)

Not a MJ Fan, but I know what you are takling about. The angle is extreme, no doubt. Due to the poster tack he is leaning a bit too much forward. But the intention still is to have him leaning forward, charging down on a new opponent from his higher vantage point. When he's done, hopefully it won't be to bad of an angle.

Now I've cleaned and glued all 5 of the wrathmongers/skullreapers into their subassemblies and made their bases. Here's the result:

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/zz221/Khorga/My%20World%20Eaters%20-%20Wrathmongers/IMG_20180707_172946_zpsw9numtfq.jpg

This guy is pretty similar in pose to the first one, but has a different angle on the base. Not my favourite of the unit, but there always has to be an ugly one in the squad, right?

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/zz221/Khorga/My%20World%20Eaters%20-%20Wrathmongers/IMG_20180707_172928_zpskdrmhxku.jpg

He is more to my liking. With the slanted base and the hammerflail he's about to strike someone down on a lower level. The cool Poser of the squad.

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/zz221/Khorga/My%20World%20Eaters%20-%20Wrathmongers/IMG_20180707_172852_zpsbgttkfrh.jpg

Crazy Ed is about to chop your head off!! One of my favourites. I love that this guy is wielding a blade almost as big as himself. i preferred the sword over the axe.

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/zz221/Khorga/My%20World%20Eaters%20-%20Wrathmongers/IMG_20180707_172804_zpsnv6trszl.jpg

The Champion...ish. Spawns don't have a leader type character, but i still think it is appropriate for the menacing lunatics to have some sort of boss that tells them what to do, where to go and who to kill.

Well, that's enough for now. maybe tomorrow I'll be able to prime the models and on monday start some painting!

Some really cool looking stuff in here. Love the base on the Bloodthirster, I have one built in a similar leaping forward pose. :tu:

That’s quite a to do list as well. Looking forward to seeing some updates. :tu:

  • 1 month later...

Phew… Long overdue update incoming. Waaaay to much stuff keeping me busy away from the workbench. But I still manage to sneak some time in to do some hobbying.

Sofar I’ve been crunching through building, converting and basing models. Let’s have a look and see what I can show off, shall we? :D

First Model. Boss Model. This is the standard FW Zhufor Terminator Lord minus the chainaxe. The replacement comes from the double-axe of the Blood Warriors Box Set. Maybe if I find a suitable replacement Chainaxe I will exchange it. The Base is only a placeholder, I’ve got one already finished and his name written on it.

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/zz221/Khorga/My%20World%20Eaters%20-%20Terminators/IMG_20180414_183025_zpsypd89zcw.jpg

And what would a Terminator Warlord be without a bodyguard? Exactly! So here comes his personal guard. In gaming terms they are equipped with chainfists and Combibolters/Combiweapons. I didn’t want to outfit them all with one and the same weapon, as that would look absolutely boring. That’s why there’s a mix of powerfists, chainfists and combiweapons. My favorite of this unit has to be the icon bearer. This little conversion worked so well and I was so lucky that a friend of mine had a leftover powerfist from his terminators. Drilling a pilot hole, some wire and wrapping some chain around made it look the part, and I hope it doesn’t look to much like a loyalist powerfist anymore. But I’m still tinkering with it. Maybe I’ll add some brass etch or something. Any Ideas?

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/zz221/Khorga/My%20World%20Eaters%20-%20Terminators/IMG_20180505_112254_zpslo0rj69o.jpg

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/zz221/Khorga/My%20World%20Eaters%20-%20Terminators/IMG_20180525_204557_zpskrdiilye.jpg

That means there’s only 1 more Terminator Character and his bodyguard left to do :D

Next Unit is becoming one of my favorites in terms of gaming and looks. The Hellforged Rapier Weapon batteries. The models themselves are from TheDarkWorks (Subtle Discord here on B+C, but you all probably know that already ;p ). I love these models. They are so well cast. They fit together perfectly. They have really smooth surfaces. And they look soooooo awesome!! I can’t wait until SD get’s his shop up and running so that I can grab some more of these and so many of his other kits.

http://i830.photobucket.com/albums/zz221/Khorga/My%20World%20Eaters%20-%20Hellforged%20Rapier/IMG_20180628_200025_zps3kmnk9vt.jpg

And now to the last unit for this update. You probably saw the sneak peek in a previous picture already, but here’s more to see. Khorne Berzerkers!!!! The conversion is made up of AoS Blood Warriors, MK3 Space Marines, FW Cataphracti Terminator Chainaxes and FW WE shoulder pads. And it was actually very simple to do. Cut off the leather boots from the Blood Warrior and the greaves of the space marine, sand it smooth, glue it together and some minor green stuff gap filling.

I’ve included some pictures for size comparison as well. They are not as tall as some other conversions floating around here, but we’re talking about 1.5-2mm here. And I’ll just compensate the hight difference with my basing :D

Aw, that made my night. Thanks for that. If you like the surface quality of those kits, just wait for the new stuff to arrive. The new models are significantly better.

Quite the prodigious update with lots of really nice bashing and converting. They're going to look great with some colour.
