Chimera question aboute Regiment and Transport

Hello

So the Transport rule from the Chimera says it can transport 12 Astra Militarum models

So is it possible to give the Chimera an other Regiment as the Units inside?

For example a Tallarn Chimera transporting Sions

RAW it should be possible or not?

Looking at it just says it can transport ASTRA MILITARUM INFANTRY no reference to REGIMENT. So I would say yes you can mix and match with / in the transport

Yes, it is. Techpriest doesn't have <REGIMENT> keyword but he can ride in guard transports. Same with Scions.

And presumably one could take Chimeras in a Tallarn outrider Detachment and have Guardsmen from your Catachan batallion ride in then.

This came up in my last game. There is nothing that states they must be from the same regiment. The transport section of the rulebook says friendly units. The chimera itself specifies astra militarum infantry. And if you look at the detachments it says you can take a dedicated transport for EACH other selection. Meaning you could take a transport for a tank if you wanted. Just have to leave it empty or fill it full of friendly astra militarum infantry,regardless of what detachment or regiment they are from.

I believe the Eldar codex transports are more restrictive in their wording.

 

However it seems them IG one is more open :)

Probably because if it was otherwise the auxilia would be without a ride ;)

Pretty much. Just consider all those units without regiments: Commissars, psykers of all kinds, abhumans, advisors, enginseers, priests... Its why they made an exception for IG, while other armies need to stick to their own subfaction.
