Tiger9gamer
hey guys, trying to magnetize my new knight crusader and wanted to confirm if these are correct sizes from this article before I pull the trigger and spend a lot of money on shipping. here is the article on spikey bits: https://spikeybits.com/2016/09/how-to-magnetize-you-new-imperial-knight.html which say I should get 5/16 x 1/16 size for the shoulder mounts, and : 3/8 x 1/16 for the gun arms, which would be these that I found: 5/16 x 1/16: http://appliedmagnets.com/n52-neodymium-rare-earth-magnet-5-16-in-x-1-16-in-disc-p-949.html 3/8 x 1/16: http://appliedmagnets.com/neodymium-rare-earth-magnets-3-8-in-x-1-16-in-for-bottle-cap-p-81.html would these work, if anyone tried it out? Quixus
I cannot vouch for the sizes in the tutorial as I have not built a Knight, but these should work. They are the same size as in the tutorial and pretty strong. Just be sure to let the glue dry a long time before attaching two of them, otherwise you might rip one off when you remove the weapon. You forgot the 1/8 x 1/16 for the shoulder weapons. AstraWlad
I used 5 mm and 3 mm wide magnets for all magnetizing purposes when I assembled my Knights. I do not know what corresponding imperial measurements are. Mallios
5mm is a hair over 3/16", and 3mm is just under 1/8". When in doubt, mm ÷ 25.4 = inches. Tiger9gamer
Alright, pulled the trigger and bought my magnets, so I guess I'll try to remember to reply when I get them! Tiger9gamer
well, turns out the article was spot on. magnets are strong enough to keep the chaingun attached at the elbow without any drilling or plasticard needed! it's pretty darn awesome if I say so myself, so I'm quite the happy cyborg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/348893-imperial-knight-magnets-sizes/#findComment-5127643 Share on other sites
Tiger9gamer
I may have spoken too soon! the chainsword and fists were hard to magnetize as all can be. Chainsword was way too tight, and had to shave away the inside of the joint for it to fit, while the fist was just way too loose and it ended up at an angle.
