Just bought a Knight Castellan :-D

I'm getting the valliant, and I plan on playing Admech aligned.

I think, personally, it was a horrible idea to tie the relic weaopns for the big knights to specific alliances (mechanicus/imperialis). It's limiting on a model that GW should realistically want their consumers to have both versions. That's my opinion.

Anyway.

I'm going valliant because I like the in close attack. I love the range of the flamer and the idea of using the flamer, charging, backing out, and doing it all over again the next turn.

Also the harpoon thingy looks amazing just for fun.

Cheers!

Good on you, sir. I would be quite careful with what I choose as charge targets with a valint (or castellan) due to only 4 attacks, only feet and WS4+. You might end up not doing a lot of damage, and if your opponent is clever, he can make it impossible for you to get out and shoot+charge again. Intented as well meant advice, nothing else. The harpoon can be really insane I think, if you manage to hit and wound with it reliably. No doubt it'll do a ton of damage when it does land. but only 12" range limits it.

So, I'm thinking that as this is a very Shooty Knight, I really should partner it with two Warglaive who can rush forward?

Warglaives and/or a Gallant isn't a bad choice. If anything they can intercept assault units that can hurt you or at least go objective hunting.

That would be a nice Lance for +3CPs and would give you access to the Raven house Trait (as well as just the stratagem). Raven is good as it is a straight speed boost for any shooty Knight and allows those Warglaives to get into melta range more easily or kite nasty opponents.

Great advice and I'm hoping of having a gallant in there with the valiant. That has been my concern but if he takes a lot of minis out by engaging them then that will work also.

Thnx for the reply.
