M.Redbeard
Well, yesterday i had a couple of fun games. A fight against Necrons in a Maelstrom of war and a simple Kill point game against the guard. Both games where cool and though of doing a Batrep just to try my hand at it. But then as I was thinking about writing it I started thinking as something to intertwine the two and make a small narrative. Since I didn't have my opponents list it is not a comprehensive Batrep but a narrative based on the game. ************************************************************************************************************************************************************ The Vlka Fenryka hunkered down in the ruins of a now unnamed city. The xenos threat had flensed the life out of the Imperial settlement, the world of Altea Prime a devastated landscape. But the Wolves hanged. A few Imperial souls where still seeking refuge, where still fighting, and The Rout would be no less. And so they waited Bjorn woken up to see a new Great Company, one to replace the terrible loses at the end of the millennium, was overseeing the warriors that would be the future of the Chapter. A couple of rag tag Grey Hunter Packs lay in wait; while he was ready to escort the last pack that where aboard the Razorback. Two venerable packs of Long Fangs watched the distance, keen eyes and nerves of steel watching the dust cloud that the metal feet, the smell of the plasma coils on the ready, one in the highest vantage point, and other still on the landing platform where they arrived. Over watching the left flank was the Thane Heimdall Olaffson, his shield trained and holding his Storm Bolter loosely. Soon the inexorable advance of the despised Necrons brought them to position. Hordes of Warriors and elite Immortals walking without rest, marching with dead eyes and the orange glow of their weapons ready to destroy the defenders molecule by molecule. Heavy destroyers, Scarabs, Tomb Blades, a Ghost Ark and a Doom Scythe supporting the unrelenting infantry. And the enemy commander an Overlord with his Lychguard in the back, cravenly overseeing everything from the backlines with a Cryptek, putting the numbers of metallic bodies between himself and the fangs of the Wolves. The hatred on the xenos forced them to get the initiative, with the flyer going immediately to the transport. The Heavy Gauss weaponry rippled though the air and hit the tank while a strafing run from the Scythe continued to pummel it. While the energized barrage continued the infantry advanced, relentless and taking as much ground as possible. But the Rout endured, waiting for the enemy to come to them. After resisting the first attack the Wolves started their move too. Bjorn and the Razobarck trained their Assault Cannons at the airborne threat, with support from the pack of veterans, while two packs advanced and kept in cover trying to reach their marked positions. The Doom Scythe was severely hit, but still kept the air, trailing smoke. The other Long Fang pack opened up to the Destroyers felling two of the dreaded machines. But the reanimation protocols brought both back and the advance didn't stop. The flyer changed his target going for the Long Fangs in the landing pack the Tesla weapons bringing down the Pack leader while the Razorback suffered the Death ray while it retreated. The brutal Destroyers brought low the tank, with a Grey Hunter unable to leave the wreck before the collapse. Grabbing advanced positions Warriors and immortals gaining the middle ground. The advance was so inexorable that gaps opened in the enemy lines. The Jaws of the Red Snow Wolf closed on the enemy. The Wolf Priest Njor with a pack of Wulfen on an assassination mission jumped right the behind enemy lines, aiming for the Cryptek and the Overlord, while Jarl Fyr and Thane Thorfinn came crashing for the sky ahead of a pack of Hellblaster and a pack of Inceptors, the plasma executioners and incinerators trained. A high energy volley blew the heavy support while another decimated the backs of overeager Warriors. While the Primaris rained the Allfather's retribution from behind the Grey Hunters went to contest the center. After stealthily moving between cover they managed to score a fundamental position and high ground over the Warriors. The Long Fangs pummeled the Doom Scythe trying to rip it from the air and after such a heavy punishment Thane Heimdall brought it down with a high reactive round. A maddened charge of the Wulfen to the Tomb Blades and Cryptek managed to successfully destroy a bike and slay the grunt and started chopping at the back of the immortal, with the Spiritual Leader controlled them. With the trap sprung the Necrons where in disarray. The Lychguard and Immortals having to wrap around the attacking beasts and the Overlord directing his attention to them too. Only the Warriors and Tomb Blades continued forwards, trying to take ground. But the all Wolves fight hard. And all die hard. With the firepower severely diminished the xenos had to focus on the rampaging and bringing them down on melee. Charging, attacking with everything they attempted to bring them down. But the Wulfen fought back, crushing some Lychguard and hurting the Warlord. Taking advantage of the distraction, the flank and center collapsed on the center. Finishing a squad of Warriors and hurting another, while felling a bike, the advance was swift and brutal. The Long Fangs brought down the Ghost Ark, but the continuous overcharging destroyed the unstable weapons on their hands, killing a couple. But the Wulfen couldn't hold the whole army for so long. Assailed from all ends they fell, but in the final surge of strength a Thunder Hammer fell, crumpling the Overlord and filling the air with the actinic smell of the power weapon. With a final triumphant howl the brutal heroes fell. The Xenos finally free of the Wulfen on their backlines, but the Immortal, Scarabs and Lychguard still had a hero of the Rout to handle. A squad of Warriors and the Tomb Blades caught a pack in the middle of the road and concentrated all their firepower on them, eradicating the heroes. And in vicious melee the Lychguard struck down Njor, with his life barely saved by a thrust of his Jump Pack having to retreat from the battlefield, unable to continue being injured over the limits of his transhuman physiology. Still the Necrons were diminished, spread out and ready for praying open. Concentrated firepower brought the elite immortals down, while the center of the battlefield was contested by the brave Hunters that didn't yield. The right flank had fallen to the Xenos but on the left another pack advanced and with Bjorn on the head their advance couldn't be stopped. Melta, plasma and solid round fell, making the machines fall down. But they ever came up, resilient. Warriors without further command just focused on killing while the enemy before their hateful eyes. The main thrust of the attack falling to only two battle-brothers. Meanwhile the guard of the fallen Lord attempted to intercept Bjorn and the Primaris, but where too slow. Unable to get into combat the Necrons where still in the pincer of both attacks. The counter-attack was as brutal as the Wolves do. Primaris focused and destroyed a unit of Lychguard and the scarabs, under the eyes of the Jarl and Thane performing admirably. Bjorn and his Grey Hunters took care of the other guards, filling them with the bolters and then a brutal charge and thoroughly twisted the living metal under the ceramite boots. The Longs Fangs continued the long range support, with eh Weaponry still malfunctioning from the unrelenting barrage. With that the battle was over. Two units of Warriors remained. One was fighting with the characteristic hate on melee but unable to best the warriors of the Vlka Fenryka while the other tried to subdue the support of the Long Fangs. Ineffective in the end they could only be crushed. Surrounding the center the battle was brutally finished in hand to hand combat. Inceptors flew with plasma blazing and crushed some warriors in the charge while Bjorn finished the last remnants of the machines. The battle won the feral howl of the Rout filled the air. ******************************************************************************************************************************************************* Well, that is the first part. If it was enjoyed I'll contninue with the IG game. M.Redbeard
Thank you for your support Brothers. As such I will continue the story of my Wolves. All comments are welcome. **************************************************************************************************************************************************************** A few days after the xenos filth had been disposed of; their metallic carcasses still adorning the dust of Altea Prime the Rout were finishing their return to their ships and ready to sail. Only a few pack remained behind on their base by the landing pad that was transporting them off-world. Three packs of Grey Hunters, Thane Throfinn and Bjorn The Fell-Handed were ready to board the Thunderhawk that had taken the other Einharjar when the vox crackled to life. A battalion of the Cadian Survivors 154th had broken out, renegading of their vows, and where charging to their position trying to get off-world. The tracks of a Leman Russ Punisher roared to their position mere hours later. A Chimera with heavy Flamers, and several Heavy Weapons squads perched up in the building. The usual Infantry followed those taking positions in cover and trying to force the Vlka Fenryka to go at them, using their heavier weapons to pick off the few scattered pack mates. Bjorn started the hostilities obliterating a lascannon and the traitorous Guardsmen that manned them while the three packs fell to cover, avoiding the sight of the long range weapons. Snarling, the chainswords as eager as the warriors but they could do nothing more than wait. The treacherous humans got confident. Three squads where nothing to the armored power of the tanks, so the Russ and the Chimera advanced together. An ironic end was on the cocky smile of the Leman Russ. The Sons of the Wolf King would be felled by the tank that bore their Primarch’s name. The Punisher Gatling Cannon opened fire as well as the heavy Bolters, slaying two battle-brothers while mortar fire rained over killing another brave warrior. The autocannons, lascannons and small fire was unable to see brave Astartes so they managed to avoid the worse of the fire. With a feral cry the Grey Hunters vaulted over cover and trained their weapons at the approaching tank. The twin lascannons at the Dreadnaughts hand flared to life and shook the Tank although they barely penetrated. The overcharged plasma and the foremost meltagun kept pounding the hull the systems overloading and the integrity diminishing. And when the humans thought they survived a curling howl, deeper and more brutal than the one that the transhuman throats just defiantly cried. Some enemies underestimated the Vlka Fenryka, thinking them feral and simple. It was a mistake no enemies where allowed to repeat. The cunning of the wolf was revealed as a pack of hunting Wulfen, previously dispatched by Bjorn, flanked the tank. Their bounding lope brought them right to the doors of the tank. While the panicked overwatch flew over their heads the Thunder Hammers destroyed the tank and the cursed individuals started attacking the Chimera. Seeing the Wulfen the guard went into disarray. The transport backed up as fast as possible and the whole battalion opened on the hunting pack. Trying to cut the threads autocannons, lascannons, lasguns, mortars, everything fell upon them. Even the best of the traitors a squad of ten Tempestus Scions with their hotshot lasguns falling from the sky opened up. Not even the right flanking guardsmen took the opportunity to open at the charging Grey Hunters. And in the end only two Wulfen had fallen. The Space Wolves took the best of the distraction. With abandon they continued forward. Plasma and lascannons rained upon the left flank, obliterating the autocannons and slaying a few infantry men. Bjorn grievously wounding the Chimera was watching proudly as the warriors of the Vlka Fenryka showed their grit. Meanwhile the rampage of the cursed continued upon the lines. Smelling the fear of the accursed renegades, the craven that had turned upon the Allfather, and seeing the elite they decided to charge them, seven falling under the thunder hammers wielded with the claws that even after falling to the inner beast were in the service of Russ and the Allfather. Right in the middle of enemy lines the enemy Commanders, including a fool that believed himself to be Lord Castellan Creed barked order. Heavy Flamers, melta, las, everything against fell upon the platsteel and gravitic fields of Storm Shields and attempted to bring down. Still only one more Wulfen was struck and the desperate Cadian Survivors attempted to charge them. One more was struck but they were massacred, the actinic smell of the Thunder Hammers mixing with the iron smell of freshly spilt blood. Without pause or concern the Grey Hunters felt the victory was close so breaking cover they continued their advance. The a squad of the Einharjar destroyed the right flank forcing with bolters and special weapons with the two terrified survivors running away after their squad was wiped, while the charging right flank took the lascannons and the transport. Gore fell over the infantry while last remaining Wulfen wielded the hammer with strength beyond that of a regular Astartes. Seeing the error of trying to take such a beast in close combat the terrified Infantry fell back and their commander as craven as his troops ordering to get back in the fight. Fire rained on the last Wulfen, but every single shot was needed to fell the brave Einharjar that had fallen to his beast. Seeing three full squads of the Rout charging to their ranks of the traitor’s nerve broke. And the bolters and chainswords rewarded their cowardice, showing the wayward allies what happens to the ones that forgo their oaths to the Allfather. **************************************************************************************************************************************************************** Hope it is enjoyable too.
