Magnetizing betrayal at calth combis?

I've googled and searched the forums and didn't come up with anything, so I was wondering if anyone had a good technique or method of magnetizing the betryal at calth combi weapons for swapping out the Combi plasma/melta/flamer parts.

buy three and magnetise at the wrist, there's literally no point in doing the secondary weapon, it will cause more headaches than solves as the secondary weapon part is about 1-2 mm thick, the thickness of most magnets

Agree with the above on magnets. There may be a way to pin it in or something so you can swap it out, but I don't think it'd be practical to magnetize it. I agree though, getting ahold of extras would be the best bet.

Well, I've actually done it to swap parts between chapters - odd colored hands just don't look as good.

 

I use 2mm magnets and in this case, just drilling into the grip just after the barrel on the receiver and on the corresponding part of the Special Weapon part did the trick nicely.

 

However, if the hands will stay the same, just do the wrists as has been said.

That is the new sternguard combiweapon you are talking about? I'm talking about the betrayal at calth mk4 ones.

I think I might be able to shave away part of the bits and graft them onto some regular calth bolters and then magnetize those.

Hey another unrelated question-didnt see a need to make another topic, regarding betrayal at calth marines, where do others put the combat blades? The instructions were a little unclear. I can't tell if it's on the marines hip or on his backpack.

I read about an ingenious conversion once. As only the barrel of the non-bolter weapon is different someone suggested cutting them off, assembling one weapon and magnetizing the extra barrels. With 1mm * 1mm magnets IIRC. The barrels are wider than 1 mm and both parts have ample depth to accommodate the magnets.

 

I don't have the kit so I cannot confirm whether this actually works.

while true on the MKIV, only the barrel is different, I'm not sure it's feasible to attempt to dripp 1mm holes in those barrelt
