Master Antaeus
I recently joined an escalation league and I've always wanted to do something with primaris, but I didn't want to re-tread my gigantic space marines army. Thus, I decided I was going to do Deathwatch, that it was going to be all primaris and that it was not going to use a single founding chapter. research and prep for those who are interested: Anyway, I wanted to ask for advice from the forum. How do I play around not having storm bolters, power weapons and transports (I don't think a Repulsor is worth it and a Thunderhawk is overkill)? mathaius
The Silver Drakes are clearly the best chapter, i'm sure that Hellblaster will make his shots count ! ;) DW has access to the Teleportarium strat for 1-3 CPs, that might help you with mobility. You can also add Inceptors/Reivers/Aggressors to an Intercessor Squad and then Combat squad them before the game. mathaius
Remember you can mix and match Plasma Exterminators and Assault Bolters on the Inceptors. Vel'Cona
Anyway, I wanted to ask for advice from the forum. How do I play around not having storm bolters, power weapons and transports (I don't think a Repulsor is worth it and a Thunderhawk is overkill)? Generally speaking, a Repulsor or T-Hawk is definitely going to be overkill for standard points limits (<2000). As mathaius said, you don't always need transports since DW can DS 1-3 units as needed, and maximizing Kill Team loadouts will help to get the most from this. Inceptors can OFC always Deep Strike, as well, though your Characters not having access to it will be problematic. Is your army concept 100% Primaris without exception, or will you make caveats for JP/TDA equipped non-Primaris Characters? In addition, are you flexible on Dreadnought choices, or going Redemptor-only? I ask because many of the other Dreadnought options are immensely strong and the ability to Deep Strike them is crucial. Master Antaeus
I think I'm willing to be flexible with Dreads because the Redemptor is hot garbage and the sarcophagus is normal sized once you strip away all the cowling (Cawling?) so there's no reason a primaris marine couldn't be in a normal dread. I don't want to add any infantry or bikes from normal marines. Bjorn Firewalker
I intend to update my Steel Crusaders Codex supplement to incorporate an all-Primaris force. To make this work, I intend to cheat by creating "Prime" versions of any vehicle capable of transporting Terminators, specifically so they can transport Primaris Marines instead. I intend to reduce each vehicle's transport capacity by 30%, to account for the size difference between Primaris and classic Marines. You may want to encourage other Space Marines players at your local game store to do the same, to win support for such plans.
