hushrong
Your painting technique is working well! I'd be happy just to have a finished product look as good as your current dread. And yes, damage, weathering, and gore will just ratchet the awesome level to 11. Looking forward to seeing the results of your weekend painting! Pearson73
Really liking the World Eaters, the plumes work really well on the helms and the blood splashes are done to just the right level. The fellow grasping the mutilated corpse really looks the business. Gang Zu
Your painting technique is working well! I'd be happy just to have a finished product look as good as your current dread. And yes, damage, weathering, and gore will just ratchet the awesome level to 11. Looking forward to seeing the results of your weekend painting! Very motivating , cheers!! Really liking the World Eaters, the plumes work really well on the helms and the blood splashes are done to just the right level. The fellow grasping the mutilated corpse really looks the business. Thanks, he is one of my favourites. I found the body in the bits box of my local hobby-shop and new imediatley that he'll be used for the World Eaters some how. Love at first sight! So here is the promised update on the Contemptor. I noticed that the white colour looks fizzly and uneven and I hope in the deepest of my heart that it won't have an impact on the oil wash... The next steps will be sealing, washing, damageing and then sealing again. Not sure how the week goes planning wise but think he'll be finished by thursday, as I can't wait to build the last 10 Inductii and maybe some Destroyers. Next time I will show you the base also ;) Hope you like him! Pearson73
NIce use of transfers on the Contemptor, the chains on the fists are a cool idea too. Bjorn Firewalker
Excellent work on the World Eaters Contemptor. I especially like the trophies at his waist. Don't forget to put bloodstains on his hands and feet. hushrong
He's looking better and meaner! I love the burn marks around his flamer. That thing has seen some good use :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/349147-hobbying-30k-and-40k-marines-xii-xiii-legion/page/2/#findComment-5139346 Share on other sites
Gang Zu
Felt like I've been off this log for half an age - although it was only a week? Time in the reality goes by so quick and time off hobby, gym and work seems so consuming ^^ Excellent work on the World Eaters Contemptor. I especially like the trophies at his waist.Don't forget to put bloodstains on his hands and feet. Thanks a lot! Both Contemptors got skull-trophys, but thought as the close combat one is a Cortus version and they are late heresy when the XII Legion got more corrupted, he deserved more brutal look. I will add blood stains after giving him the final varnish seal ;) He's looking better and meaner! I love the burn marks around his flamer. That thing has seen some good use Want him to look as used as possible, as I picture my cohort of the XII th being part of the Shadow Crusade and having no or less occasions to bother about repainting or repairing minor damages on their armours. I havn't been lazy though! Here is the result of last weeks progress and I'm happy to say that the Cortus is almost finished Not sure if I should go heavier on the oilwash on the feet, as I will add red pigments to the sand parts on the base and I prefer the white parts not being too stained with other colour. Hope you like how he turned out! Please feel free leave comments so I can improve trying to paint more realistic looking minis! KrautScientist
The Contemptor's looking fantastic, mate! Gang Zu
Fantastic weathering on the Contemptor Pure motivation, cheers! The Contemptor's looking fantastic, mate! Here, have a warrior's salute from one XII legion madman to another! This makes the teeth of my Chainaxe turn quicker ^^ Thanks a lot! Another fantastic painting update! Great chipping and weathering. Many thanks to both of you!!! Another late update - summer-holidays in Berlin always chanke my work schedual, as I work in a youth club and therefor have to be there earlier - normal work days 11-19h, holidays 8-16h. Sonds great at first but getting up at 6 is not my cup of tea, combined with the heat makes me lazy and slow. Also made me feel like I couldn't put in as much effort into hobbying as I wanted to, in terms of painting the Contemptor. So I distracted myself with putting in litte sessions of building Augmented Inductii for the XII Legion. Here are 11 of 15 Marines - my friend will give me parts for the last 4 when we see each other. Until then I will finish the last one and revisit the squad to add some chains and other things. Will now varnish the Contemptor at last, so I can give him the final touches of weathering powders on the base and blood with Tamya clear red. Hoping to do that tomorrow, if I'm not too hung over ;) I am still not quite sure how to complete him, as I feel like lacking appropriate parts. Time and ebay-bits-shops will show ^^ Until next time and thanks for looking! KrautScientist
Cool kitbashes for those Inductii! hushrong
Induction look great heads and maybe mutilated torso dragged by chains would look awesome. Also, 19hr work days!? KrautScientist
Also, 19hr work days!? Nah, 19h - when used in that context - doesn't mean '19 hours', but '19 o'clock'. It's just the way we Germans abbreviate the time of day (by putting a 'h' behind the number). Gang Zu
Induction look great heads and maybe mutilated torso dragged by chains would look awesome. Also, 19hr work days!? Sorry for the confusion, I should have written 19 o'clock instead of 19h. It became a habit from writing textes on my mobile to save time ^^ - I do work 40 hours a week, otherwise I would produce much much more hobby stuff ;) Also, 19hr work days!? Thanks for explaining ;) I managed to finish the Cortus Contemptor earlier on today. Here he is I'm very happy with how he turned out!! I'll be heading off to Sicily for a week (holidayyssss at lastt) at Friday, so I'll start the next paining project when I'm back. Until then I will finish off the Inductii and maybe something inbetween Hope you like the Cortus! Gang Zu
Wasn't happy with how he looks on the frontal pic, so I just shot an extra pic. hushrong
Understood on the '19h' and '19hrs', I'll save that nugget for the future. 19h is a lot easier to type than nineteen hundred hours. The Contemptor looks ace. No doubt about that! Gang Zu
Hello together! I have recently been working on some World Eaters Legion Destroyers, which I built out of spare parts, mainly Khorne Berzerks. They are actually just a distraction until I can get a chance to airbrush at my friends house. Here they are so far - please excuse the bad camera skills : Sergeant Phosphex Rocket Launcher copied from Anvils of Khonor - Thanks a lot! Brother Pheidias
Sometimes "kitbashes" are just poor excuses for actual modelling effort. Gang Zu
Thanks for the feedback! The reason I built them was old minis lying around and ending up in the "old-ones-box". If I new in that stage, that I will be building more Inductii for the XII Legion, I probably woulnd't have built the Destroyers. But anyway.. I like how they turned out and am looking forwart to givng them a try. Also with all that Killteam and Black Fortress stuff being released recently I thought I should take some fun shots of my collection of Rogues / Inquisitors / Specialists, I built and painted up a few years ago: ope you enjoy them.TorquemadaaaaaHenchmen, Akolythe and ScribeScecial operators for the ImperiumThe ColonelAssault guyThe SniperGunslingerExplosives SpecialistThe BreacherPilotThanks for looking.
