RoadRunna
Looking to get one of these but can’t yet decide. The Stormblade seems to have the potential for more damage output but is more expensive and as a larger footprint Can anyone share their thoughts on these two tanks? Vykes
Hmm, from what I've seen put into practice the Typhon usually comes out on top, not in small part due to its better AP and ignoring cover. I mean, yeah I prefer the range and gun on the Stormblade, but it is a little more pricey and its little add ons can really start adding up. If you take the sponsons, you'll want the upgraded crew, then might as well find something for the pintle to do while you're at it, and suddenly you're in the 100-150 over the Typhon. The extra hull points on the Stormblade feel pretty good but losing the all 'round 14 armour s pretty tough to choke down, too. Though you had best have some air cover against lightning fighters with kraken missiles. The Typhon feels like a slightly more economical choice in points and cost, and on the purely aesthetic end of things, it says 'legion' rather than 'Imperial Guard'. And like you said, it's a whole lot harder to hide. Both have casement guns, so the LOS is still just as poor, wash there. Jackalwolf
Typhon looks cooler. Why not Fellblade or Glaive? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/349158-stormblade-or-typhon-seige-tank/#findComment-5131929 Share on other sites
ProsperoStands
Big question, are you talking about from a pure mechanics stand point? Or from a hobby stand point? Pure mechanics, the typhon is one of the best units in HH far and away. Its under costed for what it does and absolutely ruins people. That said its not always a nice thing to spring on someone. I have never seen a Stormblade in the wild before so I can not attest to that. Vykes
I'll reinforce both Fraters. Brother Grieux is right, why not a Fellblade or the Glaive Super-Heavy Special Weapons Tank! I may be a little biased in which tank is the coolest of the lot :P Doom Choom. Like ProsperoStands said, the Typhon is a beast for its cost and for its power. The only real downside is that a Lightning will ruin its day (and any Spartan-esque chassis). Ugh, I have a Stormblade in my FW basket earmarked for a friend, a friend who's building a full Baneblade/baneblade specialist company. -sighs- I need more Raiders and a Cerberus. Vykes
'Tis most unfair, Gorgoff, IV legion can take a baneblade chassis and make it work (like bassies and so many other heavy things). It just looks weird when others do it! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/349158-stormblade-or-typhon-seige-tank/#findComment-5131987 Share on other sites

Jackalwolf
Gotta admit every time I hear about the ivth I feel like making a list with Perturabo, the Tormentor, 5 iron circle, 10 siege tyrants and 10 cataphractii. Hell of a fluff list with low count, all units look very iron warrior-y and it should play nice.
