Imperial Fists Legion Recon Company

Hey All,

Been trying to determine some coherent thoughts on running a legion recon company. I'd love to hear the community's thoughts on how to equip the recon squads and the best ways to run an army. I'm trying to make mine more shooty, so quad mortars. Definitely going to run some seekers and some more barrage weapons as well to get use out of tough nuncio vox squads.

I'd love to hear some thoughts. Please do not post if you're going to say it's a dumb ROW or you could do it for cheaper etc. I want to try to run this.

Hey man,

I often use one squad of Recons myself and I'm very pleased with their performance. 5 dudes in Power Armour with shotguns, a Combi-Melter at the sarge + Melter Bombs for everyone.

I can tell you that this unit works.

Usually the outflank and become a thorn in the side of my opponent, but sometimes the have to scout for first turn objective grabbing or to destroy them in some ZM missions.

Maybe that helps.

I run 2 small shooty recon units (4 sniper rifles, 1 combi plasma), plus one bigger unit for engagement (shotguns or just pistol & CCW, 8 legionnaires plus potentially an apothecary and / or character) in my LRC lists. All Power Armour.

Since one can't deploy heavy support units, my elite slots are maximized and I bring several Contemptor dreadnoughts.

Until the recent FAQ hit home I was in favour of Vet Tacs or Destroyers to supplement the recon units, but now Seekers are the new black apparently, especially since they don't clot up precious elite slots.

Have you considered a Techmarine with an entourage of RAD-Missle-Launchers wielding Servo-Automata? I use them quiet often and the are plain awesome. Especially if -like in your army- a lot of precision strikes are available. Shoot the damn two up dude in the front and kill of the rest with radiation. B)

Maybe Leviathans in Drop Pods and Predator Executioner and Vindicators are a good idea as well. All work great as reserves.

That sounds like a fun unit indeed. I might just have to go searching for more servitors on ebay.

Na, naaaa.

Puppetswar sells these awesome walking turrets and with a little bit of building you get a very cool looking unit:

You're welcome, brother. B)

Servo-Automata should look very different from the slave fleshthings 40k produces.
