Lords of silence

Actually I was just yesterday listening to the passage where it was mentioned that the ones who decide to wear terminator plate tend to fuse with it forever implying that the ones wearing regular PA don't fuse with it.

They just outline the precedent for TDA in that. Don't really say for PA one way or the other...

No, plague marine are said to be "fused with their armor even more than regular astarte".

While not detailed, their activies and discutions are said to be "increadibly mudane from such monters".

They are said to be in many way more "human" than regular astarte.

This. This. THIS. It's why the book is so so good. The Plague Marines in general have this weird kind of apathy towards everything. They aren't constantly screaming DttFE! or religiously purging everything in sight, but; they have their rituals, their prayers and their ways and each of them have purpose. They think they have it allllll figured out and look down on loyalist pup marines barely a few decades old like children.

The irony is that for all of their quiet confidence, it's all manipulation. It's all in service of Nurgle and if anything they're more zealous in their patron than many other cult marines - they just don't go audibly flaunting it in the face of anyone who will (or won't) willingly listen. It's why a lot of them can't stand Typhus, he's too loud and proud - it's not the Barbaran way ;)

I also liked the part about Mortarion where he talks about that he thought he was done with the mortal realms for good and was only concentrating on the warp realm stuff until Abaddon opened the Great Rift and changed everything. For one it shows perfectly how outlandish one becomes when ascending to daemonhood and also that the opening of the Great Rift isn't something that was 'supposed' to happen or otherwise Mortarion would have known about his eventual return to the mortal realms as daemons normally know their personal future.

Are there any accounts of plague marines outside of their power armour? Also any details of their every day activities?

There is one, on the Plague Planet. He's a sort of wandering pilgrim who looks to be an ally of Vorx. He is able to consume demons as well. I just can't remember his name.

Wow I don’t remember that at all... I have to reread this novel. Lol

Finally got round to reading this and I found it.... Ok. I don't think I get on well with Wraights's writing style, he is a little lacking in descriptive writing which is disappointing when reading about the Death Guard - there should have been far more body horror, and his story pacing is a bit ponderous. I found the same problem when I read Scars so it's not just his way of handling Death Guard.

My ebook had an excerpt from Dembski-Bowden's Black Legion at the end with the sorcerer Kayon hunting a Death Guard Lord and I found that it had far more I could immerse myself in.
