House and relic help

Hi folks lokmobg for some help. I'm going to run a small detachment of knights as a melee beat stick in an up coming tournament. Going for a gallant and 2 warglaves. I was thinking of going house Griffin with landstridrr and the pargon gauntlet.

I'm seeing terryn is often prefered for what I have in mind. Any advice and help would be appreciated. Thanks

Griffith gets +1 attack on the charge/being charged/heroically intervening (as far as I recall), but terryn makes the charge more or less certain. People are saying that your advance average with Terryn is around 4,5 compared to 3,5 for non-terryn, and your average charge distance roll would be between 8 and 9 instead of 7. That's 2-3 inches extra on average rolls, and you're a lot less likely to only roll 1 for the advance or getting a result of two on the charge. 29,5" average threat range with full tilt and land strider I believe you end up with. That is scary. If I were to play imperialis competitively with (a) gallant(s) and warglaives, I'd field them as Terryn. That said, the mechanicus strats are better (having that knight act as if it is at full wounds for a clutch moment can be battlewinning), and Krast makes the most of getting into combat. You're still looking at 26" or so average threat range, but here you reroll ones to hit. With feet or paragon gauntlet (or Ravager), that is not a pleasent experience for your opponent, especially if you go first. Going with such a setup remember to advance the warglaives first, as you want them to help put pressure on the opposing forces, and two warglaives with the melta carnage up close is not fun, even if advancing means they're hitting on 4's. If you have the points, substituting heavy stubbers for meltas might be a good idea.

Terryn with Landstrider is indeed very good and possibly the best combo for the Lance you have described. Other Traits such as rerolls to hit etc are cool but are of no use if you don't actually get into combat in the first place.

One idea that springs to mind is spending 1CP to give one of your Armigers Landstrider rather than the Gallant. You really only need it Turn 1 to ensure your Lance gets it 1st charge off. After than you will be deep in enemy territory meaning it is less important. I don't have the codex in front of me. Is there anything preventing giving an Armiger a WL Trait?

Then you have to consider the Gallant. If it is your only big Knight, it is going to be target #1 for a lot of the enemy so something to boost its survivability might be good. I am quite fond of "Armour of the Sainted Ion" for Gallants. It is particularly effective against large volumes of low AP attacks. Given that the Gallant will be spending must of its time in rapid-fire range, this can be very useful. It also helps to prevent horde units inflicting death by a thousand choppa hits on your big Knight. Sanctuary will provide you with more protection against heavy hitters like Daemon Princes, thunder hammers etc so it may be worth adapting your choice of Relic depending on your opponent.

Wl Traits for the Gallant can vary. You definitely want Landstrider in there somewhere so this should be your pick unless you can put it on an Armiger. If you have the luxury of a different Trait for the Gallant, a couple of good ideas spring to mind. Ion Bulwark is never a bad choice but if you are looking for something more offensive, Blessed by the Sacristans on your Titanic Feet can be hilarious. Mortal Wounding on 6s is pretty tasty when you get 15 attacks that hit on a 2+.
