Grimoire
Very much a neophyte at painting figures. But here is Sword Brother Ajax. Painted, but not based yet. Comments welcomed. TheOneTrueZon
You have taken great efforts, and they are well done! I do not think you'll regard yourself as Neophyte for long. Good clean brushwork. Knees are tricky with edge highlighting, the best thing about our chapter is that you can always go back in with black to clean it up. Get to know washes, it really makes the details pop. I look forward to seeing more! Bjorn Firewalker
You're off to a promising start. Yes, I've seen better, but you will also become better as you gain more experience, especially if you put as much effort into your future works as you did in those whose images you posted. Grimoire
Thanks for the positive responses guys. I'll probably never rise to the levels that some here can. Old age, failing eyes and hands can be a problem :( But I'll persevere none the less. Is this sculp believable as a Sword Bretheren ? The legs/tabard are from the Sternguard Veterans Kit. Combi-Plasma was Bits I had on hand. And various bits from the Templar Upgrade kit as well. PS: He'll be leading a Crusader Squad of 6 with a Razorback as their dedicated ride/ Thanks ! Marshal_Roujakis
As for the badassery of the sculpt, it's fairly decent for a Sword Brother... he looks pretty legit and commanding, makes for a great centerpiece model for any Crusader or maybe even a Sternguard Squad... Margulix
Nice model. I only have question about his plaudrons - the 4th edition codex mentioned the black plaudons with red cross and red border. So you have your own ideas for the sword bretheren of your crusade? But as i played templars for more than ten years, and GW do not care for us anymore, i'm painting my guys in various ways, representing diffrerent crusade veterans adn etc. So there are some guys with white crosses, i've figured out my own scheme colors for the Space Assault Veteran Squads (who support the Templar fleet and assault enemy ships is SPACE)/, and other. Grimoire
Margulix: Good catch. And yes that was a conscious decision on my part. I liked the idea of something setting these apart from other but I didn't care for the Black Pauldons with Red Crosses. So I opted to apply Red Trim and or Red Crosses on a white back ground.
