Who drives our tanks?

While the loyalist counterparts are driven by marines that isn't really an option for our tanks. So who drives them?

If it is an aspiring sorcerer, why doesn't the tank get any benefits from it (e.g. psychic pilot)?

If it is a rubric, why doesn't it need a handler?

if it is a daemon, why does the unit not get any benefits or drawbacks from being possessed?

If it is just the machine spirit as the codex seems to imply, how does that work? Loyalist machine spirits cannot do that.

Thralls? Personally i have two "pilot" guys on is the one where just the head sticks out and it is from the exalted sorcerer box the hooded guy with horns. The other uses the CSM predator tank guy back and a rubric front with a scarab occult head. I would think it would need at least an Aspiring sorcerer type commander and rubric gunners/driver orjust Thralls as the codex lists Vassal Renegade Chapter warbands as part of the Legion organization.

The codex says, "But when they are unleased upon the Legion's enemies, the spark of battle-hunger returns and the Rubricae fight with ruinous proficiency." So maybe a dust crew that a sorceree gives a jumpstart to return it to a state of battle proficiency.

At least that I can answer. Because Psychic Pilot or similar is not a thing in 8e anymore. Just take a look at Grey Knights who now have psychic Techmarines so all their vehicles (which are all operated by Techmarines) should be psychic as well.

I have just said in my army it's driven by sorcerers who aren't even at the aspiring sorcerer level yet, so whatever psychic abilities they have would be stretched thin just piloting the tank. Or you could have it be rubrics with a brand new sorcerer who can't do any more than control the few suits piloting the tank.

I'm going to put my money on Daemons. Because if it's even looked at by the Dark Mechanicus (who sell their labor to most of the Chaos warbands), it's like got Daemons in it. Need a replacement for a Machine Spirit? Daemons. Need an ammunition source for your weapons? Daemons. Need a powersource for the clock radio? Daemons. Need seat warmers? Daemons.

Basically these are the guys who use Daemons to power their toasters, so of course they use them for everything else.
