Types of Legion Consuls

So I've noticed that the Legions now have a few new Consul models about to be released, but I've kinda lost track of which Consuls there are.

Does anybody have a list of them? Right now I've got the Vigilator (sniper) and Praevian (some sort of Iron Father/Techmarine). Which other ones are out there and what functions do they have?

Legion Champion: Self explanatory.

Chaplain: Self explanatory.

Librarian: Self explanatory.

Primus Medicae: Chief Apothecary.

Praevian: Commands Cybernetica (Castellax or Vorax) units.

Forge Lord: Techmarine lord.

Master of Signals: Communication expert (can call in an orbital bombardment and buff the shooting of units).

Siege Breaker: Comes with Tank Hunter and Wrecker (which both apply to units that he joins) and opens up the option for phosphex shells on quad mortars.

Herald: Legion standard bearer. Different effects for Traitors, Loyalists, and Blackshields.

Delegatus: An officer given the authority of the Primarch to perform a specific mission.

Moritat: A hero level Destroyer. They duel wield pistols and can't join friendly units except for Destroyers.

Vigilator: Scout/Sniper character. They have the option of taking scout armour instead of power armour.

Legion Specific Consuls:

Space Wolves - Priest of Fenris

Speakers of the Dead: Chaplain/apothecary hybrid.

Caster of Runes: Librarian.

Alpha Legion

Saboteur: Self explanatory.

Word Bearers

Diabolist: A psyker with the Daemon and Preferred Enemy Loyalist special rules.

With Models:

-Champion - Close Combat Duelist, now the only non-Praetor character who gets a Paragon Blade

-Master of Signals - buffs ranged units and uses Large Blast templates to make playing Infantry even more pointless

-Praevian (Announced) - Controls Automata

-Vigilator (Announced) - Stealth/Sniper

-Forge Lord (Techmarines have models) - Fixes vehicles, surprisingly good Challenge monsters, access to special equipment such as Rad Grenades or Servitors

-Moritat - uses Rad Grenades and chain-fires pistol shots before blowing up because of Overheating

-Herald (Banner Bearers in Command Squads) - Aura buffs, depends on Allegiance (Loyalist/Traitor/Blackshield)

-Chaplain (plastic model in 'Space Marine Heroes' box and Betrayal at Calth set) - is spooky and buffs melee squads

Model exists, but not easily-available or 30k-specific:

-Delegatus (Autilon Skorr, former Event Exclusive) - Mini-Praetor, allows Rites to be used for cheaper

-Siege Breaker (WHW/Event Exclusive in Terminator Armour) - Buffs Heavy Weapon shooting, allows Phosphex to be used elsewhere in the army

-Librarian (Sevrin Loth, 40k Red Scorpions character who could pass as 30k, and Event Exclusive/WHW Terminator Traitor Librarian) - puts on robe and wizard hat

-Primus Medicae (was available for one day from certain stores) - Provides FNP and victory point denial, particularly for squads in Terminator armour who can't get an Apothecary

-Ultramarine Herald (was available for one day from certain stores) - like the Herald but in blue jammies

No 30k-specific Model

-Diabolist (Word Bearers-specific) - unlocks extra Daemonic upgrades, buffs against Loyalists

-Speaker of the Dead/Caster of Runes (Space Wolves-specific) - Chaplain and Medicae/Librarian equivalent

-Saboteur (Alpha Legion-specific) - Blows things up in sneaky fashion

Hopefully that's everyone.

Don't forget the Kurtha Sedd/Chaplain model from the Betrayal at Calth box.

Knew I'd forgotten someone! Thanks.

There's also, from a fluff perspective, the Consul Opsequiari mentioned in connection with the VI Legion. Admittedly they're pre-Russ (although there's a 1d4chan mention for them also turning up in the XIIth Legion); but I'd be rather surprised if earlier Crusade/Unification Marine forces did *not* have them - with the whole Rogue Trade military police vibe going on.

Additionally, there's a bit of a 'shift' in the function affixed to the "Herald" title; between the Unification Wars (and possibly some time subsequent) wherein it effectively refers to something of a proto-chaplain (replete with an "eagle-winged" mace, and a skull-helm and black armour) whose job it is to a) act as the emissary carrying the surrender directive and then b) immanentize the Imperial Truth or die trying ... and the later , the rather more familar banner/escutcheon bearers and such.

Also, in terms of 'what they do', I may be misremembering, but Chaplains basically wound up being there to enforce the Edict of Nikea, amongst other things, didn't they?

Further, while it's not fluff (yet), I would anticipate that there would be Consul-ish positions during/prior to the Heresy for an array of roles that are around in 40k era Marine chapters - things like the Master of the Fleet, for instance.

Well, Alexis Polux becomes the Master of the fleet (or equivalent title) of the Imperial Fists after Yonnad dies, so the title exists, even if it has no effect in-game.

As for the Heralds, that was the role of the Imperial Heralds, the pre-Lorgar Word Bearers. I don't know if other legions had the same position, but that role is described as part of the XVII Legion original duties.

Sure, also just remembered there was a model released by FW for a Centurion with master-crafted power fist some time back.

Are you thinking of Narik Dreygur, the IW character who was a special release along with Autilon Skirt?
No, he's thinking of the "Terran veteran" or something like that. Something about unification or whatnot. Super short run model from a couple years ago.

It's the one in cataphracti plate with a thunderhammer and combi-volkite.

Well, concerning the Consul Opsequiari, while the page in Inferno talks about the wolves and the warhounds it does so with the premise of "the only ones still having them" rather than "the only ones who ever had them". This is probably a nod at the old Rogue Trader era "Field Police" used by all space marine forces back then ;)

And the appearance of the various Primarchs seems to coincide with their discontinuation.

So are there any obvious Consuls we are missing do you think?

I bet something akin to a "Wing commander" would be great, bonuses to flyers, jump packs and skimmers.

A generic Tank Commander is sorely needed too (toned down Orth).

A Zone Mortalis/ Fleet operations consul that could be bonuses to Breachers or Teleporting Terminators.

Then I'm sure the Traitors could get some unique ones too.

I would love some sort of Phalanx/Breacher Centurion that could afford defensive bonuses to foot slogging armies like the ability to take void shield harnesses or something wild like that

That would make IF Phalanx Warders using the Gauntlet of Stone RoW completely unbreakable when sitting in cover (T5, WS5 when charged, immune to pinning, add an apothecary and they just won't die). Not that I would be against it :D.

Hey that would be a great way to make them usable! IH Immortals would get a much needed boost as well
